Most Improved Club Piedmont Hills Key Club
CORE VALUES
This past year, our club has reflected our core values with our actions. For inclusiveness, we held a club bonding called Finders Keypers, where members teamed up, searched for officers, and completed various challenges. We also made social media platforms so those who do not have Facebook can communicate with the club. For Caring, our club hosted our Holiday cards event, where we helped out the Make a Wish Foundation by making holiday themed cards. For leadership, we implemented a new feature to our club called “Member in Charge (MIC) that puts members in leadership positions. We hope to provide opportunities for members to grow. For character building, our club elects and honors a Member/Officer of the Month and honors them for their hard work and dedication. This year, our club has improved greatly in honoring our core values.
WEBSITE AND NEWSLETTER
During this term, our club has created a new website to replace our old one. This new website is not only more interactive for the members, but is also easier to navigate. Compared to the beginning of the term, many of the outdated information found on the old website has been removed and new features such as a DCON countdown and project goal counter has been added. Many of the photos on our old website did not have high resolution; they have been replaced by higher quality photos. For this new website, our main goal is to better promote our social media as well as information from the division. To do this, photo slideshows showcasing various division events were created, and clickable icons linked to club, division, and district social media accounts were added.

To increase interaction with the website, we now have a poll as well as a space for members to sign up for the club and for service events. As of January 5th, 2018, we have had forty people respond to the poll on the website. In conjunction with the website, our newsletters have also been revamped to include more division and district updates. Â We now have a page linking the division newsletter as well as the district newsletter. Various flyers from the division and district have been added to the newsletter as they are released. For the newsletter, our Media Directors have made it more interactive for the members by including monthly trivia where members are given the chance solve puzzles for the chance of being featured. Â
GOALS
In the beginning of the 2017-2018 term, our club decided to set higher goals to strive for. Piedmont Hills Key Club was determined to surpass our goal of $1,200 for both PTP and the Eliminate Project. In preparation for FRN, our board diligently looked and brainstormed for potential PTP fundraisers. To start off the term, Piedmont Hills Key Club sold ice cream cake pops and lemonade at the July DCM, raising $79 towards PTP. By October, we successfully surpassed our PTP goal just in time for FRN. Our most successful fundraiser was Trick or Treat for UNICEF, where we raised $773.56 for the Eliminate Project.

To motivate members, we held a contest to see who could raise the most money. This increased member participation and resulted in fully stuffed boxes. In addition to fundraising goals, our board set an hour goal of 9,000 hours for the term. To reach our hour goal, the officer board held a competition to see who could find the most events. Within one month, our board found over 50 service events for our members, which definitely helped us get closer to our hour goal.

Over the course of this term, Piedmont Hills Key Club has also had great success in increasing participation in club, division, and district level events! By personally contacting members and constantly advertising different events at our meetings and on different social media platforms, our Key Clubbers are more motivated to participate. For club-level events, our officer board has outdone itself with a wide variety of activities every week for our members to go to, leading to an average of about 10 events per month compared to last year’s 8. This way, members can truly find the events that fit them, and this strategy, coupled with our officer board physically reaching out to members, has worked, as we are on track to beat our goal of 9000 hours! For division-level activities, a great example of our members’ interest in outside participation are the DCMs.

Among the other clubs in our division, we are most consistently the club with the highest attendance, thanks to the increase in number of attending members more interested in learning about the many levels of Key Club. Finally, for district-level events, we don't need to look any further than FRN. From last year's 50 attendees to this year's 62, it's clear that our improved contact with our members has greatly helped. Members were able to experience a uniquely fun side to Key Club while also understanding how their participation in our fundraisers contributes to the event and to our community. With great communication and dedication from our members, Piedmont Hills Key Club has made great strides in increasing our participation in club, division, and district-level events.
