Emily Forgot - Suggested in a group crit Work is play

Bringing motifs from her work to life.

This is playful and innovative. Re-imagining how she works & re-defining her practice

The colour palette is simplistic and innocent. It isn’t overpowering, paired with the smooth edges and curvaceous shapes, it has a young & calm atmosphere

“Embracing the odd, the everyday & the sometimes surreal Emily Forgot’s playful visual language and image making continues to innovate, evolve and surprise” She works to produce tailor-made solutions, innovating and creating simultaneously

Frequently collaborating with new practitioners of different disciplines, she adapts and embraces new ways of working

Most of Emily’s image comes from visual cues: striking colours, abstract bold shapes and confident lines. The artistic decisions made around her colour palette almost define her practice, as they are instantly recogniseable.

Emily is interesting to me because she evaluates the appropriate aesthetic required in each situation E.g. above is a space for Milan week - the colours are bright and contrasting, set against patterns and line to suggest a playfulness and to remind you less of the standard interior.

Conscious colour choices The colours in this design are subtle and not as contrasting as other pieces.

The colours blend together more Not as vibrant. More idle & dull

I.e. a conscious decision for a foggier & smokier image

Why is Emily Forgot relevant to my COP? She uses colour in an environment to set a preconceived mood/atmosphere.

She capitalises on our innate & learnt conceptions of colour to affect our emotions & behaviours in a way that impacts our later choices. (Hoping for customer patronage)

This supports the argument that companies can use colour as a visual cue to increase sales.
