PART2 500 words

SYNTHESIS Consistent self-reflection in the form of blogging and note-taking has led to a project that, as of this moment, ties together theory and practice - as comments from crits suggest [I think my topic lends itself to this, as biophilic design is the successful application of theory.]

Translating wind, clouds, grass and sound

OUTCOMES Consider application of work - e.g. mock-ups of pieces in human environments Decided to propose finished outcomes as aiming for a definitive goal is more achievable - allows for efficient time management Similarly, having a solid question for my essay helped me to structure it so that I answer a question. Ensure feedback is enough to gage results that answer the question - e.g. tally charts would produce quantitative results, comment book would lead to qualitative.

MOODBOARD FOR WEAVING

OUTCOMES TWO COLLECTIONS THAT INTERTWIN E Ilkley Moor Collections. One inspired by a September visit, the second by December Each consists of 1 weaving, 1 fabric screen-print & 1 mixed media piece Theories suggest unifying exteriors with interiors can make people happy by connecting them with their environments, but this exhibition offers me a chance to find out for myself.

DESIGN BOARD FOR EXHIBITION PITCH

ILKLEY MOOR COLLECTIONS SEASONAL | PASSAGE OF TIME As the plants dry out, the fabrics hues fade, the colours evolve and are ever-changing - as they do in nature. Example: Screen-print for Ilkley in September: - Translates the breeze and evokes a sense of movement - Employs colours of Autumn - Abstracted the rolling hills in the distance - Shows scale between the rock face and the heather, grass and trees

FABRIC SCREENPRINT

QUESTION QUESTION CHANGE To what extent can colour and form in nature benefit wellbeing? Better suited to theories and my practical work. It’s acknowledging that, though I began by looking specifically into colour, the project has changed direction and now encompasses another aspect of nature: shape/movement/marks etc. Nature is the focus of the project, and colour and form within it.

THE WORK BEGAN TO EMBRACE FORM AS MUCH AS COLOUR

RESEARCH I made an effort to regularly research to ensure consistent inspiration and grounding the work in theory: - Trip to the Hepworth Wakefield - experienced biomorphic forms first-hand - saw prototypes, sketches, sculpture and material variety Emailed David Shearing to get his account of the Weather Cafe first-hand - focusing on colour, responses and materials Case studies: ensure they appropriately answer the question from separate angles.
