Showreel report

Showreel report The reason I am making my showreel is for employability as I am not looking to go to university. My showreel will come in handy when applying for jobs in the media industry. When I started this course I have learnt a lot of editing skills when using Photoshop and mainly Premier Pro. The skills I have mainly accomplished in this course are key framing, colour effects and colour distortion. I will apply these techniques in my showreel when editing the videos together thinking about the different colours that each video will have. I taught myself how to edit videos together and develop them further in Premier Pro as I had some experience before in school when taking media as a subject. To be able to develop my videos I had to ask peers and watch tutorials. https://www.youtube.com/results? search_query=how+to+make+a+showreel One of the showreels I have watched to be able to make my own was a good step by step explanation. This allowed me to think carefully on what clips to put in it as I want a good flow of continuity between different clips. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpUmlHqmMB4 I then looked at this showreel which is more of a screenshot tutorial as I can see what the film maker can see. Even though it is on a different software, it gave me ideas on how to edit my clips together to help with the flow alongside which clips I will use. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZorIh34mg4 My third example was more of an inspiration as at the star it shows a preview of an already made showreel so this helped a lot as I knew

what standard I was aiming for. It is an easy video to learn from and I have used many of the techniques in my showreel. The showreel examples that I have used have really influenced my own work as I have taken consideration into the flow of the videos. I’m aiming to reach the same standards that each of these showreels have met to make a professional outcome. All of the visuals are accompanied with a song or some sort of beat to make it more intriguing and giving a good impression. All of these ideas that I have used will be a great contribution to my showreel as it has inspired me to recreate it and make it look more visually effective. By starting with the audio, it helps me to organize my clips in a suitable order along with the beat of the music. This will also help the visuals of my clips by having the audio accompany it appropriately. By taking this into consideration, I hoped to have shown what I am capable of when it comes to editing. Also I hope to show the meaning behind each clip to show my creativity skills to prove that I am experienced. In my showreel I have chosen suitable audio to go with the videos. This allowed me to get a better insight of what order I would be putting my clips in. I have chosen the instrumental of a well known song that is very upbeat. This will help my showreel to be more effective as it will attract my age group. However, I have not cut the clips to the beat of the music as it can distract the viewers from my editing skills. I have not used any of the original audio from my clips as I thought it wasn’t needed. I have used various amounts of different shot types such as close ups, rack focus and a lot of running shots. I have thought about the lightning in all my clips to emphasis the elements in each of the shots. I have done this to make the shots look more effective. I have put most all the running shots together as it will make more sense to what projects I had an interest in doing. For example, the running shots illustrate more action and energy that I was hoping to create in my projects. The improvements I have made to my showreel is

looking back at more possible clips to see if they will fit better in the reel more, checking if they have more potential than others. I have really focused on the continuity as this is an important technique that needs to be consider when making it look more professional. It will indicate that I have worked well into creating a rhythm and carefully placing them into a specific order.
