I’m Megève’s mascot. I’ll be your guide all the way through this brochure. This summer, Megève invites you to explore with the help of the five elements: water, earth, fire, air and spirit. “During the holidays, my sister and I went for a walk in the forest near the Calvaire path. At Creux Saint Jean, there are superb views over the river. You cross a bridge, it’s magical. You can take photos Pinterest-style to capture this moment. I nearly forgot something: as you’ll be near the river, you'll need to wear warm clothing. On the other hand, you’ll get warm from running all over the place to make the most of the scenery and natural surroundings. This walk isn’t very long but it’s a lovely way to get away from it all. A day with the family IN MEGÈVE

Some ideas for memorable family moments this summer!

9am Adults may enjoy a 5-day adventure mountain trekking with friends, stopping overnight at mountain refuges. The children can go river hiking with a mountain leader, to keep cool with their feet in the water.

12 noon Have a picnic at the top of Le Jaillet where the children can have fun at the panoramic playground, while the grown-ups enjoy a thrilling ride on the giant swing.

5pm Round off the day with a street show, a Musical Nap or a concert.

9am Take them on a one-hour trip to the land of books for a storytelling hour for young children. Meanwhile, parents can enjoy unwinding at Le Palais Spa.

The Haut Val d’Arly Museum

For the whole family

Discover a 19th-century farm which has been converted into a museum of rural mountain life and is now a unique place of remembrance and sentiment for younger generations. Each room depicts the life of a family in the last century. A real journey into the past! The ski room shows the evolution of winter sports and the associated equipment. You will also be able to watch short films recounting the life of Megève. The museum’s outdoor space is a quiet place where everyone can meet.

Nature Lab & Hike

Age 6 and up

The biodiversity laboratory introduces the mountain environment, the local fauna and flora in a fun way, over a morning. The Lab guide will help you make scientific discoveries of the local environment using a presentation followed by an observation of the microfauna of soil and flora using laboratory equipment: magnifying glass and digital tablet. The afternoon is devoted to an independent hike with a GPS observation pack. The naturalist trail takes you into the forest to identify clues to the presence of wildlife and learn about forests of conifers and deciduous species, birds and water habitats (educational pond) with links to the origins of the name Megève. In the backpack: a beating tray, a booklet on plants and a sketchbook.

From 6 July to 1 September. Age 6 and up, accompanied by an adult, solo from the age of 15. Lab: Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 12 noon. Free.

Hike: Monday to Saturday, departure at 2pm (duration between 1½ and 2 hours).

Want to find out about the joys of photography while exploring the streets of a village? This introduction is perfect for you! François, from Megève Forever, has prepared a 1-hour programme, specially designed for families. The youngest will be able to try their hand at photography in a fun way, while the older ones can ask any questions they may have about taking the perfect picture.

Age groups 4-5 years, 6-8 years and 9-13 years

Nature is your best friend! Embark on an adventure in the company of donkeys, play in the rivers, build a cabin, swing from branch to branch on a treetop trail, and go hiking with dogs along the trails (6-13 years). You’ll also visit a farm, learn to cook, play lots of games and enjoy all sorts of creative activities. For the 9-13 age group, an amazing teepee night is organised, with a trapper-style dinner around the camp fire!

Teenage Trappers’ Trek

Fancy walking a very long way? Walk for 5 hours every day for 5 days, in the company of a donkey who will carry your rucksack. You’ll spend 4 nights in mountain refuges, watch the sun setting over the mountains and make your own camp fire. A fabulous adventure in the mountains of Megève, with no screens or devices, to make amazing memories with friends!

Climbing course

For children aged 8 and up

Experience the joys of climbing, learn to climb independently in natural sites and explore the wealth of our natural environment. Children are collected from in front of the Bureau des Guides and receive their medals on the Friday.
