ABOUT US What is BRB? Our mission
What is BRB? The Back Road Brigade was created when Joan Esch and Shirley Thelen decided to train and run the Bayshore Marathon 2011 in Traverse City, Michigan. Joan had already run 2 marathons, and the Bayshore would be Shirley’s first. As they talked to other friends about their plans, interest grew and soon Joan and Shirley had many runners signing up to run either the half or full marathon in Traverse City. A schedule was drawn up where members would take turns hosting the Saturday long runs that the group ran together. Since the inception, the Back Road Brigade has
continued to log miles together on Saturday mornings during the cold winter months, and some members run together during the summer as well. The group hopes to inspire people to run for overall good health, and welcomes runners of any distance and pace. Many members of the running group simply enjoy running with others and are not necessarily signing up to run a race.

HOW TO USE OUR LOGO Our logo Spacing measurements Correct use Incorrect use Primary type Secondary type
Our logo
Running Club What’s with the arrows? What do they mean? Good question. The arrows were chosen to represent a clock as well as a speedometer. It’s pretty well known that time and speed are related, and the faster you run the faster you finish. A normal speedometer forms a half circle, and a typical analog clock’s hands are arrows. Not only is each arrow different lengths and sizes to represent all the different races the Back Road Brigaders will run, but it also represents all the different types of people that the Back Road Brigade welcomes-and with open arms. If you have a running/ fitness goal you want to reach, the members of BRB will help you achieve it. All it will cost you is some time and dedication. 6
Spacing measurements
The center circle is how far away the BRB should be from the arrows logo.
Running Club
Running Club should fit within the boundaries of BRB.

Running Club
Running Club
Do not squish or stretch the logo. Do not rotate the vertical or horizontal arrows 180 degrees. Image to the right: The logo in this picture is not clearly visible because the background is very busy and color is not suitable.
