WEEK 3 READING:LEGER, LE CORBUSIER, AND PURISM
Question 1: What is Pictorial Space according to Le Corbusier? (Maximum 100 words) Le Corbusier defined Pictorial Space to be a fictiuus represenation. This is becasue it did not have any depth in it. He mentioned that the objects which are in the visual field are merely just a ‘demonstration of senses’. Objects in this sapce cannot be circlulated nor measures, as they are purely illusions. All tectures and shadows are removed so as to obtain oure geometrical abstraction.
Question 2: The Flatness of Le Corbusier’s painting’s are attributable to two properties. What are they? And what are these pitted against?(Maximum 100 words) The Flatness of Le Corbusier’s paintings are atrributable to the properties of colour and texture. Shapes and lines do not add depth, and are therefore what these two propertes are pitted against. Colour and texture are secondary to shapes and lines so as to add depth. Le Corbusier used black, which is not a colour, to add shadows to drawings.

1ST MARIO’S WORLD
This is the axonometric of the fully underwater elevation. It shows the rock formations and the plants, as well as the jellyfish. The dots on the drawing represent the jellyfish - since they are all identical.

COMBINED MARIO’S WORLD
The final axonometric projection joins both elevations of the Mario Worlds. I decided to add a few more creatures from Mario, such as Cheep Cheep (the fish) and Blooper (the squid). I altered Cheep Cheep’s size and features, so that it could look like a final level monster to fight against. I believed the metal encasing to have a secreet treaure stash with huge coins, but the consiquence of going in there is to directly face Cheep Cheep and her swarm of squids and jellyfish protecting her.

WEEK 4 READING: AXONOMETRIC PROJECTION Complete your reading before attempting these questions:
Question 1: Explain the difference between Pictoral (in this case perspectival) space and Projection? (Maximum 100 words) Perspectival (Pictorial Space) is limited in space, as it has a vanishing line, wherby all the lines will eventually meet. It is an illusion of the real world, becasue objects closest to the ey appear to be bigger, while further away objects are smaller. Projection, on the other hand, uses parallel lines, therefore the lines will not have a vanishing point, i.e. the vanishing point is infinity. The scale of all the objects are the same, it does not depend on the location of the object from the human perspective.
Question 2: Where did Axonometric projection first arise, and why? (Maximum 100 words) Axonometric projection was first used for military puposes - it was used to calculate and depict the trajectories of projectiles for firing canons. Furthermore, engineers and scientists used axonometric projection to visually communicate designs and construction details of various machinery.

ILLUSTRATED MARIO’S NEW WORLD
The final axonometric projection joins both elevations of the Mario Worlds as illustrated adn rendered digitally. The use of colours, gradients adn patterns allow me to portray the image’s depth and textures. In addition, the colours used are very basic, as it is a video game, so it needs to be vibrant and easy on the eye.
