RESUME
Company founder CONTRAST / Audiovisual production and art direction company Company founder Studio Mehdi Hachid / Creative processes and mental health. Director - Set designer for « EL Kahina » Paris Thaatre Scheduled
Beginning his career in photography, Mehdi Hachid quickly turned to other disciplines such as the visual arts, cinema and art direction, abolishing all boundaries between subjects and practices. His protean work oscillates between two distinct but complementary universes. The first produces work of an assumed complexity, in which form, movement and emotion are brilliantly interwoven, served by an acute sense of graphic design. The second world is one of minimalist, stripped-back abstraction, where only the purest expression of emotion is preserved, guided by a subtle bundle of connotations.

EXHIBITION INSTALLATION
Mehdi Hachid's work constantly seeks to free itself from notions of normalisation. Experimentation plays a central role, offering several levels of interpretation in which the creative process counts as much as the final result. The last few years have seen some important milestones in the artist's career. In 2023, he presented Nexus, an immersive audiovisual installation exhibited in Constantine. And in 2024, he participated for the first time in a major international event by exhibiting at the Izmir Design Biennial in Turkey. With a cross-disciplinary approach, Mehdi Hachid continues to explore new avenues of expression at the crossroads of art and science, always seeking to push back the boundaries of his creative practice.

Waiting For Noah - 2024 - Sculpture and Sound Installation
Waiting For Noah is a poignant artistic immersion designed by contemporary artist Mehdi Hachid. This captivating exhibition explores with sensitivity and depth the pressing problem of illegal migration in the Mediterranean, a heartbreaking humanitarian issue that continues to mark our times. The artist, inspired by the complexity of the stories and realities experienced by those who undertake perilous journeys across the Mediterranean, brings this painful reality to life through his masterful work. “Waiting For Noah” is not just an artistic exhibition, but a vibrant appeal to the collective conscience, a reflection on the human condition and a poignant tribute to those whose stories often remain in the shadows.
Waiting For Noah - 2024 - Sculpture and Sound Installation
This exhibition offers an immersive visual and emotional experience, guiding visitors through two distinct but complementary artistic worlds. The works reveal a delicate balance between assumed complexity and minimal abstraction, an artistic reflection of the duality inherent in illegal migration. Through each piece, the viewer is invited to explore the nuances of hope and tragedy, vulnerability and resilience. The work seeks to transcend borders, just as the waves of the Mediterranean know no limits. The materials chosen, the artistic technique deployed and the thoughtful hanging of the works combine to create a powerful emotional atmosphere. Each element of the exhibition is an invitation to deep reflection and empathy towards those who undertake these uncertain journeys in search of a better life. At the heart of this exhibition lies the belief that art has the power to spark meaningful dialogues, raise awareness of human realities and inspire positive action. “Wainting For Noah” is not just a collection of works, but an urgent call for solidarity and understanding, inviting visitors to connect with the complexity of human stories that unfold beyond visible horizons.

NEXUS Sculpture Audio Visual Installation French Institut, Algeria 2023
My artistic approach is based on an ongoing quest to explore and question the boundaries that define our own essence, as well as those that define the contours of the society in which we live. My aim is to create works that open up new avenues of thought, offer innovative perspectives and broaden creative horizons. It is with this vision that Nexus takes shape." Through a subtle alchemy of forms, images and sounds, Mehdi Hachid aspires to transcend convention by giving life to a monumental structure over 10 metres high, bearing witness to the intrinsic complexity of our interconnected reality.

NEXUS - Vidéo Capture SET 3
Following in the footsteps of systems thinking, the artist approaches this project with a particular intention, offering those who dare to explore alternative ways of thinking and looking an opportunity to deconstruct our tendency towards isolation and the fragmentation of reality. This installation invites the public to take part in an original sensory experience, inviting them to rediscover a world in perpetual evolution, in order to better apprehend the scope of our environment. By questioning our place, our impact and our interactions within the whole, it explores the links between natural, social, economic and environmental systems, revealing the essential interweaving of the relationships and dependencies that shape us.
NEXUS - Vidéo Capture SET 5
Through this singular work, the artist opens up new horizons in the field of creation by encouraging the active participation of the public, inviting them to an uncommon immersive and sensory experience. Disturbing, disconcerting, even disruptive, Nexus transcends minds confined to linear thinking, embodying a powerful image that breaks down individual boundaries and shapes a more inclusive and resilient future.

In this exploratory project on the hands, I aim to capture the complexity and symbolic richness of this organ that is so essential to our existence. As an artist with a passion for contemporary photography, I am fascinated by the diversity of representations of the hand throughout the history of art. From prehistoric times to the most avant-garde artistic movements, the hand has been an inexhaustible subject of fascination, a symbol of power, creation, connection and expression.

Street Collage - Algiers 2019
have been creating street collages for a few years now. My goal was to move beyond the digital world by printing my images and placing them on city walls. This allowed the process to go beyond simple artistic creation, inviting interaction and spontaneous exchange with the public in urban space. Returning regularly to the places where I had made my collages was deeply satisfying. I observed with fascination how my works evolved over time. The marks of time, the traces left by the weather or the interventions of passers-by added an ephemeral and poetic dimension to my creations.

The words left by those who discovered them offered a new layer of meaning and interpretation. The street collage experience helped me redefine my relationship with art, making it more tangible and discover beauty in spontaneity and impermanence. It allowed me to appreciate the beauty of impermanence and the spontaneity of the creative process.

Digital Negative Film - Experimental Print 320/140
In this photography and video art project, I immerse myself in a profound exploration of anonymity, erasure and the questioning of identity through a series of intriguing portraits. Each person represented, whether famous or anonymous, has their face deliberately hidden, distorted or rendered invisible. By diverting the viewer's gaze from the most recognisable feature of a person - their face - I aim to provoke thought about how we perceive individuality and personality.

By concealing the faces of my subjects, I highlight the complexity of anonymity and the fragility of our own identity. The portraits become visual enigmas, inviting the viewer to look beyond the surface to discover the multiple facets of each individual. This artistic approach also questions the social norms and prejudices associated with facial recognition, challenging preconceptions about physical appearance and self-perception.

Through photography and video art, I create a space where identity becomes fluid, where the boundaries between the known and the unknown become blurred. Each image becomes an invitation to explore the different dimensions of the human being, to contemplate the beauty in imperfection and to question our own perceptions of identity. By capturing the very essence of the individual without revealing their face, this project offers a contemplative meditation on the complex and changing nature of the human being.

his artistic project engages me in an exploration of the shifting boundaries of reality, aware that any conception of it requires a cautious approach, a recognition of its indirect access through knowledge of reality. My ambition is to fuse the tensions inherent in our perception of the world, such as immense and microscopic, uniqueness and reproduction, to create a dialogue rich in paradoxes. I aim to highlight the strangeness of everyday life and our inability to fully comprehend reality, as well as explore the foundations of new philosophical, scientific, and technological thinking.

Drawing on physics, I create works that delve into the nature of matter, energy, waves, and the void. Immersing myself in modern physics theories provides endless inspiration for my art. My artistic approach is guided by concepts such as wave-particle duality, the quantum field, and quantum vacuum fluctuations. I aim to capture the essence of these concepts and translate them into visual forms that challenge our understanding of the universe. The viewer is invited to contemplate the mysterious depths of the universe through my work. I aim to reveal the intimate links between these two fields of knowledge by exploring the interstices between art and science, offering a new perspective on the nature of reality and our place within it.
