Drawing from the past and geared up for the future, a revamped and relocated studio will give a new kick to exceptional craftsmanship currently in danger of being lost forever.

Franz Ippoldt, born and trained in Austria: • Is the studio’s founder and project visionary • Has worked on his craft for the past 30 years, first in Italy and then in France • Is a sought-after master weaver of silk, gold, silver; velvet, brocade and lampas for drapes, upholstery & haute couture

the European Centre of Excellence for traditional silk-weaving, with 40 to 50 Jacquard looms continuing to produce: • exclusive modern creations • historic replicas for museums, collectors and palaces • life-style accessories

This project involves the relocation of our studio from France to Upper Austria’s Haslach an der Mühl: • 800 year history of woven textile production • Austria’s sole designated centre of Textile Culture • HQ of the European Textile Network • UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status • multi-partisan local political support for the encouragement and retention of traditional loom craftsmanship • an available and willing human resource pool Drap d’argent moiré.
