1. Preparation Consider the following to engage your audience from the start: Understand, Tailor and Evaluate.
➔ Understand Who is your target audience? How old are they? What languages are they comfortable with?
➔ Tailor Look through the session outline. What can you do to make the session more engaging for your target audience? Is there internet connectivity? Maybe an online survey? Can you prepare materials for younger audience to draw on?
➔ Evaluate Ask for feedback! Read through the feedback survey. Did you manage to get your audience aware? How can you improve your session to make it more engaging and effective?
Is language something you need consider to communicate with your target youth group? Understand
Consider the age group, socio-economic background and cultural factors. Can you speak their language? Is there someone you can bring to help you? Or can you communicate through other means?
Make it your own. (With a little help from us here!) Tip If you are talking to a younger audience, it might be a good idea to design engaging activities such as drawing instead of visualising to keep their attention and make it more interesting for them!
Did you manage to get people Aware?
All we ask is 1 simple question to test Awareness. TEST YOURSELF: Which ONE statement on the SDGs is MOST accurate? We need to work collaboratively to achieve the SDGs which are due in 2030 and that will make our world a better place It is our government’s responsibility to achieve the SDGs by 2030 which will make our world a better place The SDGs are seen to help only the war-torn and developing countries to become better by 2030.
Tip Always remember to test your audience to see if you managed to understand and tailor your presentation effectively. You can use different methods to evaluate your audience Check out the resources : • online quiz • print out worksheets
