Weekly Reflection # 16
Melanie Quintana Torres EDPE-4006 Dr. Maritza Reyes Week 16
FINALLY, MY LAST WEEK OF MY PRACTICE TEACHING!!! So many emotions, looking back I can’t believe that it’s over. I learned so much, I feel like a brand new woman, now I’m a teacher. I survived everything. There were so many situations that I felt I was drowning, I can’t believe that everything is over. All that was bad is over, now is time to think of all the positive things I learned. I see my practice teaching as a whole experience. I can say that my Practice Teaching was not an easy experience and that the Manuel Mediavilla Negron High School polished me. I believed now that anything that comes now I would be able to handle it. The last day of classes was very emotional. The students surpassed themselves. They prepared a party with munchies and even a cake that said “te queremos Melanie”. They gave me a recognition plate with a photo of the whole group that said something beautiful, they prepared a video with photos and gave a speech of what an honor it was having me as a teacher. I have to admit that I cried, especially when my case study started crying, I grew very fond of him in this semester. I felt good because I finished my practice teaching but bad at the same time because I felt like I was abandoning them. I didn’t like leaving them, they have so many situations that I feel like I’m letting them down by going away. At the end of the day all of the practice students were in the basketball court because there was a “Zumba’ activity for the whole school and to my surprised they call us to the front and again congratulated us for the labor we did with the students and in the school, they all wish us good luck and gave us a certificate of recognition. Again, I was taken by surprised I couldn’t believe they all felt so lucky and thankful to have us there. I couldn’t have left the school with a greater memory I felt very happy and emotional by all the surprises and recognition. I guess that we did make a difference in the school.
