Weekly Reflection # 12
Melanie Quintana Torres EDPE-4006 Dr. Maritza Reyes Week 12
This week we started new material; Prediction and Inference. Finally, we’re working on a new unit; 10.4. I was getting really frustrated because we sort of like got stuck on unit 10.3, but, thank God we could finish it. The good news is that this new unit is really good; it’s short and with material that I know the students are going to like and have fun with. When I started explaining the students what prediction and inference was they got it really quickly. I thought I was going to have some difficulty with them. Once again I prove myself that not everything goes as plan. When I think something it’s going to run smoothly it doesn’t and vice versa. The thing is that they got it pretty quickly and I could do various activities with them. the plan was to cover as much as I could before the Spring break. I didn’t want to leave the material halfway because they were going to forget about it after the vacations. After the vacations we would start with reading comprehension based on prediction but, before it I wanted to cover Prediction and Inference. In fact, I did I was able to explained the terms and they understood it and we could practice it too. The practice was a game which was excellent and they really enjoyed it. They like to play and I sincerely love to bring games to class in which they can learn. The games were based on Easter so I brought them Easter eggs, candy, chocolates and trivia. They were really happy. I was happy to see them enjoy the game. There’s a sort of feeling of gratification when I see my kids appreciating my class. Sometimes when I feel down I remember how much my kids like my class and everything passes. The fact that I have get to know and love so much my students are the reason of why I have survived my Practice Teaching.
