While Atlanta was my home office, my internship expanded beyond design responsibili es into engaging research and collabora ng with mentors across various specific firm offices - which enabled me to not only collaborate with expert talent across the firm, but also enhance my comfort level with the HKS family. Towards the start of the internship, I therefore charted out a work plan summary of objecƟves (le ). Design Responsibili es (Team Members) : Extension of the Piedmont Atlanta Hospital Design team Research Experience (Mentors + Partners) : Collabora on on academic thesis on Senior Living Campus communi es

Although throughout the design realm of my internship, I worked primarily on this single project, I was fortunate to experience it through a signficant me period from Concept Design stage towards the end of Design Development. Moreover, the local condi ons of the project benefited my sense of project context.

INTRODUCING THE CONCEPT OF SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY During client visioning sessions, the Piedmont team employed an innova ve approach towards understanding their user groups. Through exploring various personas of the diverse Atlanta popula on, we were able to iden fy nodes of ac vity within the building that could translate to direct programming elements that serve a variety of needs for each persona. This helped us think about the synergy between intellectual and emo onal journeys of Piedmont’s guests, thus bringing home the concept of Southern hospitality. Cra ing these iden es made for an enjoyable inves ga ve process!

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT : MOCKUPS

At the Atlanta office, the organisa onal culture greatly supported my environment not only as a young learning professional but also served as a founda on for my personality development in a holis c manner. Through various outreach projects and design excursions through HKS’ commendable service record- I was able to apply my social conciousness as a public interest designer.

Clockwise L to R: Plan ng historic streets with Trees Atlanta, engaging in community feedback with urban pop-up studio Atlanta City studio, planning and building structure with AIA Canstruc on Drive and Design compe on

Addi onally, Project Kaleidoscope- an internal training effort at the Atlanta office, helped boost a culture of reciprocal mentoring within the office by empowering young professionals to comprehend and synthesise various stages of client engagement and design through the means of a make-believe project execu on and realis c design reviews and cri que. This in turn enabled confidence in my presenta on and marke ng skills- in addi on to my side involvement in research efforts with the firm.
