stephanie howard & stefan armolavicius june 8, 2013 When Stephanie and Stefan put their heads together to plan their ultimate dream day, they concluded their wedding should be full of fun and sparkles. “I wanted to add as much whimsy and glitter in as many places as I could, while maintaining a vintage ambience,” Stephanie explains. Gold Chiavari chairs and sequined tablecloths adorned the room while decorative aqua accents brightened the space. “Our gorgeous dessert table included an assortment of delicious sweets, many of which were made by my mother,” Stephanie gushes. The duo also rented an open-air photo booth featuring a gold sequined backdrop to match the motif. “Everyone absolutely loved it,” Stephanie shares.

clockwise from top left “There is not one thing I would have changed about my wedding day. It went exactly as I had wanted, and it was the best day I have ever had,” Stephanie says; The couple’s gold wedding cake will be frozen and saved to indulge in on their first anniversary; Glittery gold and aqua stationery set the tone for Stephanie and Stefan’s wedding; The newlyweds share a laugh with their nearest and dearest after the ceremony; Aqua bows are the finishing touch upon the white and gold tabletops.

emily antler & diego aguirre may 11, 2013 Elegant simplicity was the inspiration for Emily and Diego’s minimalist spring wedding. “Our philosophy was ‘less is more’, which applied to everything but the guest list,” Emily shares. “Being surrounded by that many people who truly only want the best for you both is the best feeling we’ve ever experienced.” After the ceremony at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, the newlyweds went to the Corktown Footbridge where Diego had proposed a year earlier. “We placed an engraved lock on the bridge in order to commemorate our engagement and wedding,” Emily explains. “We threw the keys into the Rideau Canal together before heading off to our reception at the Canadian Museum of Nature.” Days after their wedding, the newlyweds enjoyed a blissful honeymoon in South Beach, Florida.

clockwise from top left Diego wore a memory charm on his boutonnière to honour his late sister and keep her close to his heart on his wedding day; The phrase “The best things in life are meant to be shared,” was displayed on a rustic chalkboard; Emily walked down the aisle carrying a stunning green and white bouquet; “We used a colour palette of gold, white, green and coral,” Emily says. The chic bridal party reflected the couple’s signature shades; Emily and Diego loved their beautiful and delicious spice cake.

OTTAWA REAL WEDDINGS

KARINE PILON-LAROSE & LUIS LOPEZ AUGUST 24, 2013 FROM KARINE: We picked “Lucky” by Jason Mraz for our wedding song. We had dated for more than seven years, and supported each other through medical school and residency. We’ve always felt grateful to be best friends. A big part of the ceremony involved the people closest to us. We had them read poems we chose that we felt represented us. My brother read in French and Luis’s sister read in Spanish. After the ceremony, Luis and I joined our guests inside the hotel to share cocktails. It was important to spend as much time as possible with them. Therefore, we took our photos before the ceremony. When the meal was done, we invited our guests to step outside to enjoy a half-hour fireworks show. After the fireworks, we danced for hours, until 2 a.m. We had a great time with our closest family and friends.

NICOLE BURGESS & KYLE KENNEDY AUGUST 24, 2013 FROM NICOLE: Kyle and I went to high school together, but we didn’t start dating until after university. He was persistent: he left his phone number in my yearbook, then, years later, he found me on social media and that’s when we started dating. Kyle proposed to me in Montreal during a weekend getaway. He planned every detail: we stayed at my favourite hotel and ate a wonderful dinner, and he surprised me with a horse-drawn carriage ride and a proposal. Our wedding day was blessed with beautiful weather and our ceremony was like a dream, surrounded by our favourite people. It was 24 degrees on the 24th of August, and that is our lucky number—it doesn’t get more perfect than that! Our wedding song was “Find Me” by Boyce Avenue. The first gift Kyle gave me was tickets to see Boyce Avenue in concert, so the song is extra special to us.
