HORIZONTAL CONGESTION SMART LIVING FOR SMART PEOPLE
PROLOGUE Horizontal Congestion proposes the merge of programs and functions within the same strips. Each line first will be converged within itself. By changing its length and width, lines will connect to adjacent strip and turn into plane and mass, which will generate unprecedented combinations. Each line will differ from the adjacent one either by function or form. The congestion will be reflected in the system of strips.

BILKENT, ANKARA
SITE ANALYSIS The site is located in between two important universities of Ankara, which are METU and Bilkent University. Regarding user profile, students and academicians residing in the area are high in number. AgÄąl Stream flows right adjacent to the site, which used be one of the important streams of Ankara. Since Ankara does not have many running water sources, AgÄąl Stream has an important role for the city.

Alternative Farming: Underground
Agil Deresi creates a chance to consume and recycle the stream. By water purification, the housings will not be wasting water. The water will be used repeatedly in different areas, and then flow back to the nature
As the population increases and cities expand, agricultural lands reduces. In order to cope with this problem, we need to increase the efficiency ratio. If we cannot create agricultural lands on the surfacei we can do it underground. Via ‘light tubes’, we can transfer 96% of natural light to avoid use of electrical lighting.

HORIZONTAL CONGESTION Each strip by longening and shortening, creates different possibilites of both use and interaction, either by itself or by coming together with adjacent strips. The strips create both open and close spaces for use, having diverse functions and use. Eventually, when all these strips define spaces all together, they create ‘HORIZONTAL CONGESTION’.

KAZIKICI BOSTANLARI , ANKARA
Kazikici Bostanlari had been one of the most important agricultural lands in Ankara until today. Now, The Bostan is under urban transformation. The aim of the project is to propose a coomunal living space where people can live - work - socialize, and to regain the old days of Kazikici Bostanlari. Each parcel has a unique atelier function. There are four accomodation units for each student in parcels. Each student is responsible for designing his or her own accomodation units which can reside 40 people. There will be living both students and instructors. The ateliers are designed together with four group members, whereas accomodatians are individual works. VEHICLE ROADS PEDESTRIAN ROADS

Design Problem Spaces we are living in are composed of public and private spaces. Nowadays, people are getting isolated because of the new urban life and the growth of community. As contemporary society changes from social to more individual lifestyle, poeple do not feel the necessity of a square where we can meet each other directly. In today’s world, to develop mutual understanding and co-living, we need more public spaces. Meanwhile, we are not only getting isolated from public but also the nature due to the increase of constructions and built environment. The Bostan, which is in Iskitler, as known as KazĹkici BostanlarĹ, will create a natural environment for people to both socialize and interact with the nature. As an urban vocational institute, the main aim of the atelier, co-houses and social hubs is to enhance social relations within the frame of living, meeting and working.

ACCOMODATION [INDIVIDUAL WORK] As a concept, people are to be collected in the public space, and directed towards the Bostan. The diagonal link provided, which leads people right into the Bostan, ends with permaculture and study hubs at the left corner of the site. Continuous paths which are referenced to the other housing and the atelier in the site creates divided connection to the Bostan.

CULTIVATION OF SELF SPATIAL NARRATIVE EYMIR LAKE, ANKARA
35
36
SITE The site is in Eymir Lake, Ankara. Eymir lake is a widely used natural recreation area where people come jogging. The name of the site comes from the rock located on the hill. This central rock emerges from a greater rock beneath it. The path reaching the Rock is very steep.
Strategy Without freeing minds, one cannot achieve inner peace. To achieve calmness and peace, we first need to cultivate ourselves, before we arrange it in groups. The one walks through circulation spaces to get to individual spaces. These spaces are created through intersections of different prisms. Circulation spaces, thus, darker compared to calms spaces. As the one walks by, he will realize the cultivation spaces through the path. In each cultivation point, the one will cultivate himself individually. In the end, the one will reach the group cultivation space. The pavilions are connected thorugh intersections, and they all focus the Rock with the landscape.

BAKIRKOY NORM BAKIRKOY EVENT POINT

GLIDER EXHIBITION STAND There had been a competition of model glider among high schools, which Istanbul Grand Airport organised. There were four winner gliders. Sizes of gliders varies. Their sizes about 100cm x 100cm. We were to design stands for the exhibition of these glider models.
55
We designed the legs carrying the gliders in linear way, in order not to blockade view. Legs are to both decide and further accentuate the standing direction and angle of the gliders. There is a main leg that stretches along the glider, and there are perpendicular legs, intersecting to the main leg. As a system, they all together carry the model and the glass plexiglass beneath.
