Board Chair's Report
As Chair of Balmoral Hall School’s Board of Governors since July, I have observed the ceaseless effort required to create a learning environment characterized by caring.
I am fortunate to collaborate with many members of the school community who wholeheartedly inspire the imagination and courage to excel, to reach, to lead, to care.
June 2019 marked the retirement of Past Chair Mrs. Joy Loewen. On behalf of Balmoral Hall School, I express earnest and heartfelt appreciation for her extraordinary impact. Thanks, as well, to fellow retiree Mrs. Joan (Rankin) Richardson ’69 for her service and support. After steadfastly stewarding the 2017–20 strategic vision, “Building Bold,” over the past two years, Ms Nancy Cipryk ’86 has assumed the role of Past Chair. We will continue to be bold, together.
I am awed by the dedication of Head of School Mrs. Joanne Kamins, faculty, and staff to lead with a bold vision of pursuing excellence. My fellow governors and I persistently support strategic priorities to become a globally recognized and trusted brand, to build an unlimited learning community, and to create a culture of philanthropy and sustainability. What motivates us is the joy on students’ faces, including my granddaughter’s, as they master a new skill, or start a new project, or pursue a new opportunity such as post-secondary studies.
These are exciting times in our school’s history. The Centre for Arts & Design offers a signature educational experience that emboldens girls to be confident in an ever-changing world. A stepping stone on their academic and professional paths, the journey of a lifetime begins at Balmoral Hall School. Worldwide, alumnae are studying, working, and volunteering to their fullest potential. In sustaining connections to their school community, alumnae share a unique affinity. What we offer as a school, as a community, and as a network withstands the passage of time.
The atmosphere is quite magical! Every time I visit campus, like most others, I sense the magic of Balmoral Hall School. Commitment to caring, love of learning, and exceptional school spirit generates an energy unlike any other.
The future shines so bright!
Marilyn R. Robinson, Chair, Board of Governors
