Foundation Chair's Report

It is an honour to be part of Balmoral Hall School as incoming Chair of our BH Foundation Board.

I wish to thank Past Chair Mr. Jim Perchaluk for his service and for his family’s longstanding support of Balmoral Hall. In addition, longtime Board member Mr. Peter Jessiman retired over the summer. He and his family are dedicated supporters of and advocates for Balmoral Hall. It will be a difficult task to find such stalwart supporters as their replacements.

As a parent of two lifers, Meredith Chiu ’14 and Gillian Chiu ’17, I witnessed the impact of the school’s sense of community, the extraordinary education, and the breadth of opportunities provided by Balmoral Hall. I believe sincerely that my daughters have grown into remarkable young women and will continue to succeed because of all of this. Our family is fortunate to have had the means to send our daughters to Balmoral Hall. Both Leslie and I come from families for whom private school was never an option. Leslie, Meredith, Gillian, and I decided to help families with limited financial means to send their daughters to Balmoral Hall.

During our daughters’ Senior School years, we created and built up an endowment to provide bursaries. Families whose daughters can benefit from an education at Balmoral Hall should have the opportunity. The purpose of The Balmoral Hall School Foundation is to financially assist these families.
