Mother-Son Superhero Dance - Sunday October 6, from 1 - 3 p.m. This super event is for boys age 9 and under and their moms, aunts, grandmas or big sisters. Enjoy an afternoon of games and activities, music dancing, a snack buffet and prizes. Moms and sons are encouraged to come in their favorite superhero costumes. Photos will be available to purchase. You may pre-register online at www. leavenworthks. org — convenience fees apply — or in person at the Riverfront Community Center, 123 S. Esplanade St. No event day walk-ins accepted. Cost is $25 per couple, $5 for each additional guest. Proceeds benefit the Waggin' Tails Dog Park

Trunk-or-Treat - Saturday October 19, starting at 5 p.m. Join us if you dare - Bring the family to Sportsfield Park, 20th and Ottawa streets. Be sure to dress up in your favorite costume and bring your Halloween bag or Jack-O-Lantern to carry the candy. Free event. Holiday Market - Saturday November 2 - Get an early start on holiday shopping 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Riverfront Community Center, 123 S. Esplanade St. General admission is free and open to the public. Vendor booths are available starting at $20 and include one 6-foot table and two chairs. Vendors may register and select your table online at www.leavenworthks.org — convenience fees apply — or in person at the Riverfront Community Center administrative office during business hours. First Grader Santa Claus Drawing Contest: Leavenworth and Fort Leavenworth first-graders are invited to participate. All drawings should be free-hand and submitted by the student's teacher or parent by Nov. 8 to the Riverfront Community Center manager Tammy Metzgar, tmetzgar@firstcity.org. Drawings will be judged and displayed at the Riverfront Community Center. The winner will receive a prize and other special prizes.

Mayor's Holiday Lighted Parade and Tree Lighting Friday, November 22 - This is a yearly event held each Friday before Thanksgiving at Haymarket Square, 7th and Cherokee streets. Check our website for more information about this family-friendly event.

Breakfast with Santa - Saturday December 7 - Come join Santa Claus for pancakes and pictures. Advance tickets are available online — convenience fees apply — at the Riverfront Community Center, 123 S. Esplanade. Adults are $6 in advance or $7 at the door. Children are $5 in advance or $6 at the door. Event starts at 8 a.m.
