City continues federally-funded program to help low-income home owners

Moderate and low income home owners who qualify maybe eligible to receive a Community Development Block Grant to provide funds for home repair to help with home weatherization, minor exterior repair, safety and sanitary upgrades or emergency assistance. The purpose of this program is to assist low and moderate income homeowners, within the corporate bounds of the City of Leavenworth, to make safety or sanitary repairs or handicap accessibility improvements to their residents. The program is funded by the Community Development Block Grant program, a federal program administered through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and is subject to federal guidelines and rules. Our application is online under “Home Repair Grant” under the Community Development division.

CUTLINE - This homeowner used a CDGB Home Repair grant to help pay for an entrance ramp for a family member in a wheel chair. The ramp prevents family members and health care providers from having to carry the wheel chair up and down the stairs.
