A Brief History Of Thorntons Research Publication
Concept: To produce an informed and well designed publication about the history of Present information and imagery in a chronological order that will encourage the famous English traditional and established Chocolate brand, Thornton’s. the audience to read the publication from start to finish in a logical order. Design Decisions: As well as researching the Thorntons brand, publication functions were also researched which strongly informed the design decisions made and aesthetics. The publication was printed on A4 format white stock with a slight matt finish to represent a similar aesthetic to the packaging found when researching.
Layout was key when designing this publication as the content had to be presented in clear way as the purpose was to inform. In terms of colour, the stock used was white and text was black to ensure maximum legibility to re-inforce the purpose of the publication. Fonts included: Bebas Neue, Sell Roundhand (decorative for the cover page and embodies qualities of Thorntons) and Arial regular for its legibility and clarity on the page.
The nude/pink colour above was introduced to the design of the publication as a connection to the rich goods available at Thornton’s store and online. It also represents colours that have been used in Thontons packaging before as well as the products themselves in the form of icing decoration and fruity fillings.

The nude/pink colour came out as planned down the left hand side of the publication, followed by the pink thread added and was then used as a key to selecting the correct colour thread for binding. to act as a hinge stitch that would hold the publication together.
