Signs your pet should see a vet Pets are valued members of the family, and pet owners work hard to provide safe, secure and healthy living situations for their companion animals. A good diet and regular exercise are essential to pet health, and pets also benefit from a strong relationship with their veterinarian. Routine vet visits are necessary to maintain pet health, but at times pet owners may have to call the vet when something is awry. Animals are very good at hiding symptoms that may indicate they are not feeling well. Pet owners must learn to recognize certain subtleties that may indicate a dog or cat needs to visit the vet. Here are some symptoms that may indicate it's time to schedule a vet visit. · Restlessness: Animals that are
jumpy or can't seem to get comfortable may be experiencing pain or anxiety. If your typically docile kitty is now pacing the floors instead of relaxing, it may mean something is bothering her. · Physical appearance: Changes in posture or other physical changes may indicate something is wrong with your pet. Does he seem to be moving slower than usual or look pale? Is the pet avoiding eye contact? Gauntness or excessive weight gain may be linked to certain conditions as well. · More or less vocal: Some dogs and cats are the strong, silent types, while others like to vocalize. If you notice changes in your pet's vocalization, he or she may not be feeling well and trying to tell you. · Cold signs: Dogs and cats can
suffer the common cold just like humans, but the viruses are different. Symptoms are quite similar to what people experience, including runny nose, watery eyes, coughing, and sneezing. If symptoms last more than a week, book an appointment with the vet. · Dietary changes: Many pet owners learn something is amiss when their pets exhibit changes in their eating habits. Food may suddenly sit uneaten in bowls. Dogs or cats may begin to drink a lot of water or leave the bowl untouched. If these changes persist, contact your vet. · Digestive issues: Digestive issues also may indicate a problem. Be aware if pets are not eliminating as they normally do. Cats may not be using the litter box, or dogs may be
unable to hold their waste until they are outdoors. Frequent accidents or bouts of vomiting may not be indicative of a behavior problem, but rather a symptom of an illness. · Fatigue: Dogs and cats certainly do their share of napping during the day and night. But excessive napping may be a sign of something bigger. Illnesses can cause fatigue in animals, and sleeping may be their way to banish pain. While symptoms such as bleeding, limping or rising temperatures are clear indicators that things are awry, many pets only experience subtle symptoms when they begin to feel sick. Pet owners should keep an eye out for such issues to ensure their pet is not suffering in silence.

Tree lighting tips Lighting a Christmas tree may seem like child's play, but time and again people struggle with the task. Untangling wires and wrapping them around boughs can be nerve wracking, but lighting a tree doesn't have to be a chore when you follow some tips from the professionals. First, keep in mind that wrapping lights around the tree horizontally is more work and often doesn't produce a multi-dimensional effect. Rather, string the lights from the trunk up to the top, working vertically. This is actually how the tree decorators at Rockefeller Center in New York City do the famous tree
year after year. This method helps eliminate tangled wires and empty spots. Remember to plug in the strands of lights before you begin to check for burnt-out bulbs and to adjust the spacing of lights to prevent dark spots. Think about varying light bulb sizes to add more dimension. String an inner layer of small LED white lights to produce an inner glow on the tree before adding larger, colored lights on top to increase visual appeal. Just be sure to match the same wattage of the lights so that you do not have power surges and can prolong the life of the bulbs.

Make a home offer they can't refuse Buying a home can be very competitive. A well-maintained property with all of the bells and whistles that today's buyers demand figures to attract many offers, and buyers who have found their dream homes must be prepared to make an offer that sellers can't refuse. Standing out in a sea of other potential home buyers is not always so easy, but there are steps buyers can take to ensure their offer is the one sellers ultimately accept. · Get preapproved for a mortgage. Sellers' patience may wear thin with buyers who are not preapproved for a mortgage when making their offers. Preapproval can speed up the selling process, as buyers won't need to secure financing afterward. When sellers receive multiple offers on their homes, they are more likely to sell their homes to buyers whose financing is already lined up as opposed to buyers who have to scramble to secure
loans. · Establish a strong rapport with the sellers. It's not uncommon for homeowners to develop emotional attachments to their homes, and buyers should keep that in mind when viewing a home and negotiating their purchase. Sellers won't want to hear about how ugly a home is or how much money buyers will have to spend to bring the home up to their standards. While buyers must weigh such variables when making their offers, keep it as cordial as possible and avoid any inflammatory remarks during the negotiation process. Sellers may be more likely to accept a lower offer from a buyer they like than a higher offer from someone they don't like. · Don't delay an inspection. When a property is drawing significant interest, buyers can set their offers apart from the rest by arranging for a near-immediate inspection. Some buyers may want sellers to give them a
couple of weeks to arrange for an inspection, and that may irritate sellers who want to sell their homes as quickly as possible. Have an inspector ready to perform an inspection within days of making your offer. · Include an escalation clause. When making an offer on a home, prospective buyers can include an escalation clause. Such a clause acknowledges that a potential buyer is willing to increase his or her initial offer by a predetermined amount to exceed any bids that are higher than that initial offer. When sellers trigger such
clauses, they are often required to show the other offers they received that triggered the escalation clause. Escalation clauses show the sellers you really want the house while keeping potential buyers' hopes of buying the home alive when the bids are competitive. Prospective home buyers may find themselves in some stiff competition upon finding their dream homes. But a few simple strategies can make their offers stand out and increase their chances of buying their ideal homes.
