MESSAGE FROM MANAGING DIRECTOR

Welcome.

Welcome to the 3rd RE/MAX Asia Pacific Convention. It is RE/MAX Australia and RE/MAX New Zealand’s honour to host this Convention on the magnificent Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia from August 30th – September 1st 2017. Firstly, I would like to thank my colleagues Mr Ken Lim, RE/MAX Singapore and Mr Eran Milo, RE/MAX Thailand who hosted the 2015 and 2016 RE/MAX Asia Pacific Conventions respectively. It is our goal to build on their tremendous efforts and deliver an event that will not only be effective in driving business within our RE/MAX Asia Pacific Region but also in connecting our Region with the rest of the RE/MAX world. Our Convention theme is:

OUR DIRECTORS & CHAIRMAN

promise will be fun, entertaining, networking-friendly and spectacular. One of the highlights of our Convention will be the Trade and Supplier Exhibition which will give delegates plenty of opportunity to see what portals, systems, services, products, promotional material and ideas our industry currently has and will have into the future. The venue for our Convention is the unique Sheraton Mirage Resort. I say unique because it is the only resort on the Gold Coast that has direct beach access with no roads or buildings in between. The Gold Coast is the most famous tourism destination in Australia and caters for all needs of families, conventions and investor interest. Many of our events and speakers have already been confirmed so stay tuned for more information as it is released. Make 2017 the year that changed your life/business and connected you to people you never knew existed but most importantly who you never knew could help take your business to another level. We are determined to make the 2017 RE/MAX Asia Pacific Convention an unforgettable experience for all Delegates, Partners, Families and Exhibitors. On behalf of the Directors of RE/MAX Australia & RE/MAX New Zealand, we look forward to welcoming you to the Gold Coast in August 2017.

Li Cunxin’s remarkable journey began as the sixth of seven sons born to peasant parents in a village in north-eastern China during the notorious Mao Zedong years. When he was 11, Li was selected to train in Madame Mao’s Beijing Dance Academy. At 18, Li was awarded one of the first cultural scholarships to travel to America as an exchange student at Ben Stevenson’s Houston Ballet. There he began to question his allegiance to the Chinese Communist Party, and he subsequently defected to the west. The defection sparked a media storm and a 21-hour international incident that involved the then vice president, George Bush Senior. Li’s Chinese citizenship was revoked and he was offered a soloist contract with the Houston Ballet where he spent 16 years and went on to win two silver and a bronze medal at three International Ballet Competitions. In 1995, Li and his family moved to Australia where Li danced his last years as principal dancer with the Australian Ballet retiring from ballet at the age of 37. In 2003, the rich memoirs of his inspirational life were published in Mao’s Last Dancer becoming an international best seller. In 2009 Mao’s Last Dancer was made into an internationally-acclaimed feature film by Academy-nominated director Bruce Beresford. That same year, Li was named Australian Father of the Year. As a result of his extraordinary career, international reputation, networks and commercial experience, Li was named artistic director of Queensland Ballet in 2012.
