Your LIFE. Your STORY. 2

Welcome and Introduction Thank you for wanting to make yourself the centre of this very special album. Many times we look back on our photographs and realise that when capturing all those special and memorable occassions there has been a very important person missing from many of them - YOU. Most likely because you have been the one behind the camera. You know how it is, there are just some people that are way more photogenic than others. I often thought - that’s just not fair - but a friend once told me - if you don’t like your normal pose then be silly? - strange thing to say but its so true. Let your personality come through - and just be yourself! When I look back now , some of my favourite photos are just that - my mouth wide open, laughing, doing something silly - but being myself. Over the years, and moreso as I have gotten older (matured I would like to call it), I’ve realised the importance of being in some of these photos and don’t object as much as I used to. As we get older we are more grateful and value many things that have happened over our lives, many of these our personal memories and many of them worth remembering. But have you thought about what you would like others to remember about you. There are many ways you can tackle this album. Take a prompt and work on that. Add in some extra pages becuase you have exgtra stories you want to tell. But as we start and go back to the beginning Im hoping you will discover all the parts that make you the person that you are today and why you are so special. Hopefully you will have a new appreciation of the person you are, what you have accomplished, who and what you value in life, some lessons you have learned, and what your dreams are for the future. So all I can say is please be gentle on yourselves, lets have some fun with this. This can be done in varying forms - whether you are a minimalist or love to fill a page with everything you can - its entirely up to you. As you move along Im hoping you will have the courage to post and share your pages with others in our private facebook group and let us get to know you as you can with others. Be encouraged by the ladies in the group as no doubt you will encourage others with your comments. Just remember this is only one person who can tell your story - and that is YOU. There will NEVER be another one like YOU.

1. Header Page

Actually, it's all about ME. One day, maybe, maybe not... - lets stop procrastinating and start today. Find a photo of yourself that you love (Ok then, how about just one you really like more than others) ... I’m sure you have one that captures your personality somewhere. This is going to be the one featured on your header page. Look at your photo and pick a couple of colours that you would like to bring into your page. If its a black and white one you can use anything. Matte the photograph using one of those colours you want to highlight on your page or a chose a contrasting one. Grab some coordinating printed papers to use for the rest of your layout. There are no actual instructions for this page. Oh NO ! but there are plenty of resources where you can get a layout idea from. Why not start in PINTEREST and type in the search bar scrapbooking page templates or page maps. Their website is also worth a look - www.pagemaps.com Create your layout Its going to be original. Remember this is YOUR front page and YOU have to like it. If you have admired a design from a previous class or something you have seen on facebook /the internet, why not use that structure as the base for yours. Alternatively you can use my sketch illustrated on the opposite page and some of the layouts based on that as inspiration. Add a title. e.g It’s all about Me - My Book of Me - My Life. This is a great way to be creative and use up some of your old stashes of chipboard alphas and stickers. If you don’t have quite what you are looking for - you can look at my chipboard that has been designed especially for this project. These can all be purchased separately from my website www.unmistakablecreations.com Carefully cut apart the words you would like to use from the sheet, colour each as you would any other chipboard piece - ink it, paint it or emboss - and allow to dry. You can use whatever technique you prefer. Adhere these to your page in your desired position. Adhere embellishments or any other elements you want featured on your front page. When adding these embellishments, try to remember the “invisible” visual triangle and try not to overload the page. Less is More. Add journalling strips Either make your own or use some of the strips from the chipboard sheet. To make your own all you have to do is type up a sentiment or favourite quote using a program on your computer, print onto cardstock and cut into strips. Ink the edges and add to your page. Post layout in our group. Upload your layout to our facebook group and be encouraged by the comments your receive. 4

2. Back to the Beginning

Blessed to be BORN. Isn’t it AMAZING how one single moment in time can change everything. Right from day one - you were and still are now “a work in progress”. As a baby’s first year is one that is filled with possibility, beauty, hope and wonder, this page could easily become an entire book in itself - but that would be another project. However in between these page prompts - if you have a number of other photos of yourself as a baby that you would like to feature, then by all means do more pages. This is your album, so no rules You can create as many pages on this subject as you like whilst waiting to begin the next challenge. Once we have finished all of the page prompts, you will have a summarised version of your life but you can still go back and add other pages into the relevant sections at anytime and increase the size of this album about YOU. Find one or two photographs of you as a baby. If you don’t have a first born photograph don’t stress, use the earliest one you have. If your parents have originals and you don’t, make a copy - use your phone to photograph the image for yourself. Whatever age - we are celebrating the fact you were born. Therefore this photo can be anything from the first one taken, to one with your parents - or just a favourite baby photo that you may have.. Create your layout. Matte your photo/s using a colour varient from your chosen papers or a contrasting colour. Usually a matte has a 1/4” border. You can even double matte to add further dimension and depth to your layout. There are no instructions for this page. There are no rights and wrongs. This is your layout. If you are unsure of where to begin, why not use the design of one of your favourite layouts. On the right page you will see a couple of page sketches you could use if you are still looking for somewhere to begin. Use Page Sketches/Maps. These are just a guide if you need a starting point to create your layout. If you are a beginner, just copy the shapes in the sketch. (the blue layered circles represent clusters of embellishments). For the more advanced, turn the sketch for a different orientation. Easily change the appearance of a simple sketch by distressing the edges. Tear, distress, ink or even roll to soften the edges. 6

3. This Day in History

On this DAY. In all seriousness, we already know that the best thing that happened on the day that you were born is YOU. However, in the big wide world we live in, other maybe not so significant events also took place. So along with your birthday each year - you may find there are a few other famous people who celebrate the day with you or some major events that took place on this day. This page prompt tends to also overlap in some areas the following one - THE YEAR IT WAS, so you may want to work on them together. Some of you may find something very significant happened on the same day you were born e.g. They landed on the moon. For me, besides a major earthquake in 1456 where thousands were killed in Naples, there were only smaller trival events that occurred. So, I will be including pictures of smaller things to fill my page such as; the price of milk, bread or petrol, population of Australia, who the Prime Minister was at the time etc etc. Again you can design your layout in any format you wish and use the title in a completely different way. However, if you would like to create a page based on the sketch showed on the left, you will need to download the pdf from our website. Download PDF https://unmistakablecreations.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/On-This-Day-Polaroids.pdf

What makes ME different makes me ME

Type the link from previous page into your search engine or go directly to the website and follow this page prompt to download the polaroids. Print out the PDF onto white cardstock. Cut out the polaroids from this sheet or use these as a template to create your own. Using a craft kmife, carefully remove the black centres from each polaroid and adhere a photo of an event that took place behind each. Write or type the title of each event onto a strip of white cardstock and adhere across the frame. To add dimension you could adhere these using foam tape. Journal on each of the frames the details of the event or price etc. e.g. Title - Prime Minister Journalling - Sir Robert Menzies

Sketch - On This Day

Position these on your background, and don’t forget to include one photograph of yourself but only bigger. Print out the quotes from the PDF and cut into strips and adhere if desired. Useful WEBSITES: https://Onthisday.com https://History.com

4. Looking Back

The YEAR it was. This page as I mentioned in the previous prompt, overlaps in some areas as you may have been born on the same day that something very something significant happened in history. The YEAR IT WAS is a page that you will design to highlight some of the major news stories or events that occured in the year your were born. After you have finished that year you may want to highlight any other signicant year of your life. For now lets begin with the year you were born. There are so many way you can construct this page so you can stray away from the below suggested sketch and do you own thing, after all this is the story you want told. Your way. Before starting grab a computer and google what major events ocurred in the year you were born. Browse important and historic events, both around the world and in Australia. Who were the world leaders, famous birthdays or even notable deaths from that year. Print out four or five photos from the events that you have chosen from the year you were born. To make if more personal, choose some that resonate with you, ones that mean something to you rather than a random event. For example, if you happen to love Disney movies and you were born in 1966 then you might want to mention it was the year he died. On another note if you were born in 1969 you probably would want to highlight this major event that has shaped history - it was the year man first walked on the moon. They are so many events that changed history in significant ways and affected millions around the world. 1914 - Start of World War 1933 - Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany 1939 - Start of World War 11 1941 - Pearl Harbour 1945 - Atomic Bomb dropped on HIroshima 1949 - Indonesia get independence 1953 - Assassination of John F Kennedy 1973 - First hand held mobile phone 1989 - Fall of the Berlin Wall 2001 - 9/11 September attack and down the track in the future sometime 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic This website might be of some help. http://www.thepeoplehistory.com/ yearsanddecades.html 10

5. All that I Am

I owe to YOU. All that I am I owe to YOU. This is a big statement isn’t it? Who is that someone special in your life? Who is that someone where the words thank you just don’t seem to be enough for everything they have given or done for you. When you look back over your life is there one or two people who come to mind, who have been instrumental in making you who you are today? Maybe you wouldn’t even be here if not for them. Someone who has been an inspiration, a role model, mentor, best friend encourager and oh so many other things. For me it’s my parents. For two very different reasons. Both love me unconditionaly but from when i was just a little girl, it was mum who showed me how to love and care, beginning with our pets. And my dad for always, and to this very day still, for believing in me. The page is designed to celebrate those people. It could be your mum, dad, husband or a best friend.

Melissa Kennedy

Whoever it is - you owe them so much as you are the person you are today because of them. How do you feel when you receive a handwritten letter. There is nothing more special, and probably moreso for future generations, for you to include on your pages than your handwriting. Write a short letter to this person thanking them for guiding you through your life so far. Even include a few examples of why they mean so much to you and how much you love them. Catherine Irwin 12

You don’t physically need to send this letter but put on your page. However, imagine how this might make that person (if they are still with you) feel if you actually wrote one to them also. Be open, be honest. You might even shed a tear or two when writing this, especially if that person is no longer with you - but honor them today.

Debra Beer

Jacquie Hay

HIDDEN JOURNALLING. You may not want to share your letter with everyone so create a flap on your page and hide your journalling underneath. Make sure people know that there is journalling underneath with some type of tab. Quotes are always great to type up and use on your page in strips. The following are some of my favourites. • Everything I am YOU inspired me to be. • If I know what LOVE is, it’s because of YOU. • Life didn’t come with a manual but it came with YOU. • Your FAITH in me made me the person I am now. • In case you are wondering- I am by defination, the best version of myself because of you. • I only need you to feel complete. You make ME a better person.

6. Favourite Childhood Toys

So manyTOYS.

Feel young again and bring back some good memories of times playing with your favourite toys, either by yourself or with family and friends.. Do you remember your favourite toy or game whilst growing up? I’m sure one or two favourites will spring to mind, ones that brought you hours of joy and loads of fun and laughter. What you probably don’t realise as much is how much that toy may have influenced you over the years and how it was important in your development as a child. Toys provide so much happiness and enjoyment and both of these help build our self esteem. Toys are so very important and special in a child’s development and some of you may recall your own stories and lessons, regarding learning to share and playing nicely together. Not only would they have helped develop your motor skills but nurtured many of your creative minds, sparking your imaginations in probably more ways than you can remember right now. Just for example who has a career in nursing or hospitality etc just from your love of imaginary play with tea party sets (decked out toy kitchen in a cubby), or doctors/nurses sets when we were young. I’m pretty sure we all benefited at some early stage from educational toys, whether that be just building blocks, counting toys, dolls, artists sets or just the backyard basketball ring. Find Photos or Images of your favourite toys. If you’re like me, you may not have many actual photos of yourself playing with toys. However, I distinctly remember the those things I loved. e.g. my viewmaster, certain games (Trouble, cameras (yes even way back then), hobbytex and the list goes on... Therefore use that wonderful educational toy we all have now (our computer) - google and search for images there. Save the image, print to size and use on your layouts. How do you feel about being called ‘old fashioned’? Google, COOL VINTAGE OLD FASHIONED RETRO TOYS and I can almost guarantee that most of us will find something that we used to play with and love. It’s like going back in time. Choose a sketch from below if you need a place to start this layout and enjoy looking back on those fun times. 14

7. Did You Know?

10 Random Fun FACTS. These fun facts don’t have to be embarrassing - unless you want them to be. However, some might be, others just funny but these are just a few tidbits that make you quirky and unique. All you need to do is think of some fun and interesting things about yourself to write on your layout. Little pieces of information that you wouldnt normally mention in the course of a conversation with someone, unless the topic pops up. To tie it all together, pick out a random photograph that you like of yourself. You may even want to take pictures that relate to the fun facts you are mentioning. Check out your stash and pick out some happy-looking papers and create a page of random fun facts about yourself. Still unsure how to start? Here are 10 random questions you could ask yourself.

8. 100 Things.

Things I LOVE. This page is really a snapshot in time. Take a moment to stop and think - RIGHT NOW what makes you happy? What are some of the things in your life that you love. This layout will freeze a small part of you on this page - a glimpse of what you love right now. If we are really honest, this list could and probably would change in a week - and most likely will be very different in a year, as we all change over time. Your preferences change, circumstances change (this year certainly is one of those years where nothing is normal) - so don’t sweat it or get stressed about it. It’s not meant to be hard but fun - and it doesnt have to be perfect. Only you know what you like - so there is nothing wrong with what you include. As we expect this list to change over time, therefore it is extra important to make sure you DATE this layout. I recently found a similar page I did around 15 years ago and it made me smile to read some of the things I loved back then but those things wouldn’t be on my list now. One of those “things I loved” back then was “holding my girls in my arms” - well that certainly isn’t possible due to their size now, however a cuddle from them now is extra special. This will be one fun and meaningul layout that will speak volumes about where you are at right now and like myself something you will look back on and smile at those things. Create Your Page • Write your list. Grab a notepad or download the list on the right. • Start writing anything that pops into your mind in no particular order. You will be surprised how fast you fill it once you get started. • Then it’s as easy as typing up your list of things on your computer. • Print them out onto white and/or cardstock in a colour that you love. • Cut these into strips and adhere to your page in any order. The more random the better. Decorate page further as you desire but I think this is one awesome page that doesnt need photos - and in years you too will look back on it and smile. You will be glad you did it. 18

Join us If this project is something you think you would like to participate in then you can head to my website for more information. Feel free to join our facebook group - UNMISTAKABLE YOU where participants have been sharing their pages. This is meant to be a fun way of using up some of your left overs of favourite papers and bits and pieces. Therefore you could also use up your stash of chipboard etc for each page title if you don’t want to purchase anything. Its as simple as using the page prompts as guidelines. More often than not, one prompt may lead you into a number of pages for a theme and that is great. It’s your album. Treat these prompts like chapter headings if you like. Alternatively you can head to my website, and purchase the chipboard pieces as you go from the Unmistakable YOU section. Just remember there is no right way or wrong way to take part. This is an album about you, created by you - so at the end of the day you are the only one thats needs to like what you are creating. There is no comparing your pages to anyone elses as you are as different to all of us as your scrapbooking style might also be. It’s what makes you unique, and what makes you special - and like my business name - its what makes you an unmistakable creation. And as Dr Seuess says - Noone can be YOUer than YOU. I hope you join us and enjoy this project as much as I have doing my own pages. Mel Just remember this is only one person who can tell your story - and that is YOU.
