By Rebecca Printen, Therapeutic Yoga Instructor Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love and friendship. This year, consider making it playful. Get on the mat with your kids, grandkids, nieces, or nephews. Remember, we can all remain playful, no matter how old we are! In yoga, we say love, kindness, and compassion lives in the heart. Doing heart opening poses keep that energy vibrant and alive, easier to share with others. ◆

Try these yoga poses and see how they make you feel:

DANCER POSE Standing tall, take hold of one leg using support if you need it. Lifting your other arm up to the sky, kick your back foot into your hand and tilt forwards. Remember to smile in this pose. CAMEL POSE Kneeling on a soft blanket or mat, put your hands around to your low back, and press your bottom forward lifting your heart to the sky. Take a deep breath. WHALE POSE Lie on your back and bend your knees so your feet are flat. Lay your arms down by your sides. Press into your feet, arms, and hands and lift your bottom up. Feel the expansion in the chest.

COUPLES THAI YOGA MASSAGE

In this workshop, you and your partner will learn how to give and receive a Thai Yoga Massage. Thai Yoga Massage Practitioner Marissa will teach the proper alignment of each pose to ensure safety during each stretch. Each partner will receive practice time and feedback after each sequence demonstrated. The workshop will include deep breathing, meditation, and mindfulness.
