SETTING THE SCENE • Memphis (19-8, 9-3 C-USA) closes its short two-game homestand at FedExForum Wednesday, Feb. 22 when it hosts East Carolina (12-13, 3-9 C-USA) in a Conference USA contest. The game, to be televised on CBS Sports Network (Comcast digital channel 222), is slated for a 7 p.m. (CT) start. • The Tigers did not appear in the Associated Press poll and ESPN/USA Today coaches national polls this week (Feb. 20). East Carolina was not ranked in either national poll. • Memphis enters Wednesday’s encounter having won 13 of its last 16. • The Tigers saw their four-game win streak come to an end Feb. 18 with a narrow 60-58 setback to UTEP at FedExForum. • Prior to the UTEP loss, Memphis had won four straight with victories over Xavier 72-68, East Carolina 70-59, UAB 79-45 and Tulane 82-64. • The Pirates are on a three-game skid with Conference USA setbacks to Memphis, Marshall and UCF. • This season, East Carolina is 1-5 on the road in Conference USA action (2-7 overall).
