SETTING THE SCENE • Memphis (19-7, 9-2 C-USA) returns to the friendly confines of FedExForum Saturday, Feb. 18 to host UTEP (12-13, 5-6 C-USA) in a Conference USA showdown. The game, to be televised on SportSouth (Comcast digital channel 52), is slated for a 12 p.m. (CT) start. • The Tigers were in the Also Receiving Votes category of this week’s (Feb. 13) Associated Press poll (No. 39). Memphis did not appear in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll. UTEP was not ranked in either national poll. • Memphis enters Saturday’s encounter having won 13 of its last 15. • The Tigers bounced back after a Feb. 1 loss at Southern Miss with four-consecutive wins over Xavier 72-68, East Carolina 70-59, UAB 79-45 and Tulane 82-45. • Before that Feb. 1 loss, Memphis had won three straight with victories over SMU 63-45 Jan. 21, Rice 73-51 Jan. 25 and Marshall 83-76 Jan. 28. • The Miners bring a two-game win streak into Saturday’s match-up with home victories over Tulsa and Tulane.
