SETTING THE SCENE • Memphis hosts Christian Brothers Wednesday, Nov. 7 in the Tigers’ only exhibition contest of the 2012-13 season. Game time is 7 p.m. (CT) at FedExForum. • The Tigers are ranked in both preseason national polls, coming in No. 17 in the Associated Press poll and No. 16 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll. • Memphis is hosting only one exhibition game this year, as it played a closed scrimmage Nov. 3 at Alabama. • Memphis returns four starters and 11 letterwinners from last year’s squad. • Wednesday’s exhibition is the first and only for Christian Brothers. The Buccaneers open regular-action versus Rhodes College Saturday. • The Buccaneers return three starters and nine letterwinners from last year’s squad. WHAT THE TIGERS DID A YEAR AGO • Memphis finished 2011-12 with a 26-9 overall record and a 13-3 Conference USA mark (1st place).
