SETTING THE SCENE • Memphis (18-12, 10-7 The American) closes the 2014-15 regular season on the road Sunday, Mar. 8 when it travels to Cincinnati, Ohio, to face the Bearcats (21-9, 12-5 The American). • Sunday’s game, to air on CBS Sports, is slated for an 11 a.m. (CT) tip from Fifth Third Arena, the Bearcats’ on-campus arena. • The Tigers were not ranked in the Mar. 2 polls and also did not appear in the Also Receiving Votes category of either poll. Cincinnati was not ranked in either poll. • Memphis is 5-4 in its last nine games entering Sunday’s American Athletic Conference regular-season finale contest versus the Bearcats. • In that stretch, the Tigers’ five victories came over Jacksonville State 74-48 Feb. 4, USF 75-48 Feb. 14, Connecticut 75-72 Feb. 19 and 54-53 Mar. 5 and UCF 75-65 in overtime Feb. 22. • The four losses in that eight-game span were to Temple 61-60 Feb. 7, East Carolina 64-53 Feb. 10, No. 21 SMU 66-57 Feb. 26 and Tulsa 74-72 in overtime Feb. 28. • Memphis returns two starters and only four letterwinners from last year’s squad. • Cincinnati is 21-9 and has won four straight and six of its last nine entering Sunday’s league match-up. • Of the Bearcats’ last four victories, three were on the road at Houston, Tulane and Tulsa. The lone home win in that stretch came over UCF. • Prior to its four-game win streak, Cincinnati had dropped three in a row.
