Stephen F. Austin Dec. 2 (64-52 loss) and Bradley Dec. 6 (73-45 win). • After Saturday’s game, other FedExForum newcomers in 2014-15 are: N.C. Central Dec. 15, USC Upstate Dec. 17, Western Illinois Dec. 23 and Jacksonville State Feb. 4. • Under head coach Josh Pastner, Memphis has a 26-3 record (.897 winning percentage) against FedExForum newbies (2009-present). • In the Pastner era, the Tigers won their first 14 contests against opponents making their first trips to FedExForum. Murray State ended the streak with a narrow 76-72 win Dec. 11, 2011. LEARNING TO SHARE • With the Tigers having 10 first-year players in 2014-15, the team is slowly trying to learn what has become a signature of Josh Pastner squads — sharing the ball. • In recent seasons, Memphis has been one of the top teams in assists per game, and the following shows that (along with this year’s current rank): Season 2014-15 2013-14 2012-13 2011-12 2010-11 2009-10

HIGH DISHIN’ EQUALS MADE SHOTS • One of the main reasons Memphis head coach Josh Pastner loves high assists numbers: it leads to easier shots and more field goals made. • In each of his previous five seasons, Pastner’s squads have assisted on over 50 percent of the team’s field goals made, and the following shows that (also lists this season’s numbers after six games): Season 2014-15 2013-14 2012-13 2011-12 2010-11 2009-10

WHAT THE TIGERS AVOIDED WITH DEC. 6 WIN • With their win over Bradley Dec. 6, the Tigers avoided a couple of bad skids. • First, Memphis avoided back-to-back losses since the start of the 2012-13 season. The last time the Tigers dropped consecutive games was in the 2012 Battle 4 Atlantis, where they fell to VCU and Minnesota — a stretch of 71 games. • Next, the Tigers avoided back-to-back home losses since the end of the 2004-05 regular season. Memphis lost to Louisville and Cincinnati in its final two home contests that season. • Next, Memphis avoided consecutive nonconference setbacks since December of 2004 when the Tigers lost to Louisiana Tech and Providence. • And finally, the Tigers avoided the program’s first 2-4 start since 2000-01. That season, Memphis opened the campaign with a 2-6 record. D’MARNIER’S DEBUT SATURDAY • For the first time this season, junior college transfer D’Marnier Cunningham will dress for the Tigers. • The Kaskaskia College (Ill.) transfer enrolled at Memphis over the summer, but did not become eligible to play until the fall semester ended this week due to transfer rules. • Cunningham was able to practice with the squad since arriving in Memphis. TIGERS’ M*A*S*H UNIT • Josh Pastner and his players have stated over and over that this has been the most physical preseason in his six seasons as head coach. • Eight Tigers, including seven on scholarship, have suffered injuries or illnesses that forced them to miss practices. • The cumulative number of practices missed from Oct. 7 (start of preseason practice) through Dec. 1 was 65. • In fact, from Oct. 7 until the regular-season opener Nov. 18, the Tigers had only four practices with the full complement of players.

TIGERS LOOKING FOR 15TH 20-WIN SEASON • With the 2014-15 season officially underway, the Tigers are looking for a 15th-straight, 20win season and a 15th-consecutive postseason berth. • In 2012-13, the Tigers set the record for consecutive 20-win seasons with their 13th straight. The previous record of consecutive 20-win seasons was 12 from 1982-93. • The 2014-15 Tigers will attempt to add to the program’s current school record of 14-straight postseason bids (10 NCAA, 4 NIT). Last season, Memphis advanced to the NCAA Tournament third round. • Prior to this current record run of 14-straight postseason berths, Memphis had two six-year stretches in which it reached the postseason. • The previous two six-year postseason spans were 1972-77 (2 NCAA, 4 NIT) and 1988-93 (4 NCAA, 2 NIT). • The following shows the top-five longest streaks of 20-win seasons in Tigers history: Consec. 20-Win Seasons 14 12 11 8 7
