Tigers Get C-USA Schedule Restarted With Home Series Against UCF The Tigers will get back into the teeth of their Conference USA schedule, Friday, with an Easter weekend doubleheader against UCF. Memphis hasn’t played a conference opponent since April 10, and haven’t hosted a C-USA foe since April 3. The Tigers enter the match-up on a hot streak, having won seven straight and 14 of their last 17 games. The Knights, after a slow start, have picked up the pace in C-USA play, as winners of five of their past six games within the conference. Junior Natalie Land leads the Knights in hitting, at a .365 clip, second in CUSA, while senior Abby McClain has slugged seven of the Knights 15 home runs in 2011. Junior Lacey Dinney leads the Knights pitchers with 10 wins and 83 strike outs. Last Year Against UCF The Tigers split the regular-season series in Orlando with the Knights. After the series-opener was cancelled due to inclement weather, the Tigers got a combined shut-out from Vanessa Walle and Lauren Carley, while Maddie McKinley drove in the game’s lone run for a 1-0 Tiger win. Memphis dropped the second game in Florida, 2-1, despite a nine strike out performance from Carly Hummel. The Knights ended Memphis’ season at the C-USA Championships, with the Tigers dropping a 3-1 decision despite a McKinley home run and Hummel’s five innings of five-hit, one-run pitching. Live Coverage The home series against UCF can be followed through live stats provided by CBS College Sports GameTracker. Live chat provided by Memphis Media Relations will also be available for each game. Links to the live chat and GameTracker can be found at GoTigersGo.com. Memphis Media Relations will also provide AllAccess video, for which a link will be provided at GoTigersGo.com. On Deck The Tigers will travel to nearby Martin, Tenn., for a midweek, non-conference single game with Tennessee Martin, Wednesday, April 27. That differs from the original schedule, which had the

Tigers playing two against the Skyhawks. The Tigers will follow that with a home series with current C-USA leader UAB, beginning with an April 30 doubleheader, scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. (CT). Phillips Sets School Home Run Record, Tigers Thrash Arkansas On a windswept evening in Sherwood, Arkansas, the University of Memphis softballers knocked the Razorbacks around to the tune of a 14-2 beatdown. An eight-run first inning got the Tigers started on the right foot, which included two-run hits by Kailey Kassner and Kamri Chester and a two-run home run from Heather Mott. Carly Hummel was brilliant on the mound, scattering two runs on two hits in six innings while striking out eight batters. Junior first baseman Jessica Phillips socked two home runs in this one, giving her a Memphis single-season record 13 this season, and a career-high tying six runs knocked in. The win gave the Tigers their second against an SEC foe in 2011. Leading Off Since sliding into the role of the lead-off hitter in the final game of the Houston series, senior Heather Mott has been on a tear. The Pensacola, Fla., product has batted .512 with with four home runs and 16 RBI, reaching base at least once in every contest. Mott started the season penciled into the No. 2 slot after leading off for much of last season. She currently sports a season- and Memphis-best nine-game hitting streak; if she gets a base knock in each of the first two games against UCF, she will equal her career-high at 11 straight games with a base hit. Hummel Tosses Third No-Hitter of Season, Tigers Sweep TSU The Tigers began their off week from Conference USA play with a bang, sweeping Tennessee State, Wednesday. In the first game, the Tigers pounded out a dozen hits, with Heather Mott going 3-for-4 with three RBI in a 7-2 win. Lauren Carley picked up the win in relief, scattering two hits in 3.1 innings and striking out three. In game two, sophomore ace Carly Hummel picked up her third no-hitter of 2011, striking out 13 in five innings for her season’s 15th
