Memphis Quick Hits • Memphis is 3-7 in its last 10 games and has lost four of its last five. • Junior shortstop Morgan Mosby leads Memphis offensively with a .343 batting average. • Senior first baseman Jessica Phillips leads the team with 11 RBI and four doubles • Senior second baseman Alyssa Palmieri leads the team with two triples and had a career best four RBI against Alcorn State • Three Memphis pitchers have struck out 10 or more in a game this season. Last Week Memphis went 0-3 at the Tennessee Classic in Knoxville, Tenn. The Tigers were one-hit by No. 9/8 Tennessee in a 7-0 loss and then were no-hit by No. 17/19 Louisville in an 11-0, sixth-inning defeat. In the final game, Boston University beat Memphis 7-3. The Tigers then split a midweek doubleheader at Alcorn State. On Deck Following the three-game series at UAB, Memphis will host a midweek contest with UT Martin
on Wednesday at 5 p.m. The Tigers will then host their league home opener beginning Saturday, March 17, with a three-game series against Marshall. The first game of the series will be televised by Fox Sports Network. History Versus UAB Memphis is 8-11 all-time against UAB and 2-7 all-time in Birmingham against the Blazers. This will be the fourth trip against UAB on the road for Memphis. The last time Memphis played the Blazers in Birmingham came on May 1-2, 2010. The Tigers won the first game before losing the next two, including an eight-inning 1-0 thriller in the rubber match. Last year the two teams split a weather-shortened series with Memphis winning game two, 1-0. Eight of the 19 games have been decided by two runs or less, including the last three meetings. Tigers Open Conference Play The University of Memphis softball team (5-16) open up its Conference USA schedule with a three-game series at UAB in Birmingham, Ala. The Tigers and Blazers will play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday and close the series with a 1 p.m. match-up on Sunday.
