Memphis Quick Hits • Memphis is batting .421 with the bases loaded. The Tigers are 8-for-19 with 19 RBI when batting with bases juiced. • Senior Jessica Phillips is hitting .583 with 12 RBI (7-for-12) with runners in scoring position. • Freshman Jordan Richwood has a 0.78 ERA in conference play. She is 0-1 with 15 strikeouts and four walks in 18.0 innings. • Morgan Mosby went 7-for-9 against Samford to raise her batting average to a team best .367. The junior shortstop has two four-hit games this season, which ties for second in school history for most hits in a game. She also has 10 multiple hit games. • Freshman Sara Pearson became the second Tiger this season to have her first collegiate hit be a home run. Pearson hit a two-run shot against Samford. Freshman Kassy Dunn is the other. Her first hit was a two-run dinger against Mississippi State in the opening week. The Tigers beat UT Martin in a midweek contest, 3-1. Marshall then swept a three-game series in Memphis, winning all three by shutout. The first two games of the series were both 1-0 losses.
This Week Memphis split a doubleheader with Samford on Tuesday. The Tigers broke out for a season high 14 hits and 11 runs to win game one, 11-4. Sophomore Amber Lindahl hit a grand slam and freshman Sara Pearson had a two-run homer. Memphis lost the second game, 5-0. Junior Morgan Mosby went 7-for-9 in the two games. On Deck Memphis will return home after the week for five games. The Tigers host a midweek doubleheader with Murray State on Wednesday at 4 and 6 p.m. and then host a three-game league series with Southern Miss on Saturday and Sunday. Houston Quick Hits • Houston is 5-5 in its last 10 games but has won five straight. The Cougars swept UTEP at home last week by a combined score of 21-3. • The Cougars rank 39th in the nation in batting average with a .306 mark and 30th in home runs per game with 0.93. • Sophomore Haley Outon is 27th in the nation in home runs with eight. • Houston senior outfielder Kelly Lindley is a former player of Coach Natalie Poole. Lindley played her freshman and sophomore seasons in 2009-10 at McNeese State for Poole. • Preseason All-C-USA Player of the Year Melissa Gregson leads the team with a .373 batting average with three home runs, 17 RBI and 13 runs scored. • Sophomore Haley Outon leads the team with eight home runs and has 25 RBI to tie junior Holly Anderson for the team lead. • Sophomore Diedre Outon and r-sophomore Bailey Watts have received the majority of the work in the circle. Outon is 4-3 with a 2.30 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 67.0 innings pitched. Bailey is 7-4 with a 2.44 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 63.0 innings of work. • Against common opponents with Memphis, Houston is 2-2. Houston beat UNLV 11-7 and lost two of three games at Marshall.

Tigers Travel to Houston for Three-Game Series The University of Memphis softball team (7-23, 0-6 C-USA) travels to the University of Houston (15-13, 4-2 C-USA) for a three-game conference series on Saturday and Sunday. The two teams will play a doubleheader at the Cougar Softball Stadium on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and then close with a noon contest on Sunday.
