Notes T h e R oa d S o F a r The Tigers entered conference play with an 8-5 record, sporting identical 2-1 records in each of the four weekend tournaments where they competed in addition to a midweek loss to Arkansas State. The Tigers had two players earn Conference accolades, with Catlin Lilly (Sept. 2) and McKenzie Hayes (Sept. 16) both being named Freshman of the Week. Lilly has also earned a spot on the Honor roll (Sept. 30). Upper classmen Viktorija Teivane and Lauren Hawkins both earned spots on honor rolls during the preconference season as well.

S couting T emple The Owls were picked to finish Seventh in the Preseason Coaches Poll, after finishing 2012 with a 19-11 record in the Atlantic-10, including a 9-2 record at home and 8-6 in conference. The Owls had an impressive preconference season, finishign 9-3, including a perfect 5-0 in neutral site matches. The Owls went 1-1 in their first week of conference play, facing the Bearcats of Cincinnati and the Louisville Cardinals. Taking down Cincinnati in four, but then falling to Louisville in the same number of sets. Senior Gabriella Matuatia was the lone Owl named to the Preseason AllConference team. The Hawiia native enters her senior season with 873 kills and has already passed the Century mark with 205 kills through 14 matches anf 55 sets so far in 2013, an average of 3.73. Matuatia was named all A-10 in 2012 as she totalled 437 kills, a 4.05 kill per set average. Senior Emily Carlin is in just her first year with the Owls, but is secon on the team with 3.06 kills per set, followed by Carolina Grattan, with 2.40. Carlin has only played 35 sets, comparing to Grattan’s 42, giving them 107 and 101 kills respectively. Sandra Sydlik leads the team with 386 assists over 43 sets, giving her an average of 8.98 per set. Tiffany Connatser has 169 in just 18 sets, giving her an average of 9.39. Sophomore Alyssa Drachslin leads the Owls with 209 digs, followed by Matautia and Sydlik with 151 and 111 respectively.
