Scene
The Tigers enter the eighth week of conference play in the American and the team will take to the road for two games in Texas. First, Memphis will face-off against Houston and then finish the weekend against SMU. The Tigers faced both teams earlier this season at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse, falling to SMU 3-1 and then losing to the Cougars of Houston 3-2.
S couting H ouston The Cougars enter the weekend with a 16-12 record overall but an impressive 8-5 record in conference play. They’ve outhit their opponents with 1293 kills compared to 1182 as well as a .182 hitting percentage compared to .178 for their opponents. The team has 11 underclassmen and only one senior. Sarita Mikals leads the team with a 3.32 kill per set average. The freshman ranks seventh in the conference and leads all first-years, being just ahead of Catlin Lilly at 3.25 and Maya McClendon at 3.04. Courtney Warren is right behind Mikals with a 2.91 average. Kadi Kullerkahn is the third and final Cougar to be above the 2.00 plateau, as the Estonian averages 2.67 kills per set.
