The Tigers graduated a pair of hitters that rank in the top-10 of the school’s career kills list. Altrese Hawkins became the all-time leader with 1,806 kills, while Marija Jovanovic cracked the top-10 with 1,285 kills. Overall, Memphis lost more than 66 percent of its kills from last season. The Tigers hit the road for the second time in the 2013 as they head to Evansville, Ind. to take on the host Purple Aces, the SIU-E Cougars and the Valparaiso Crusaders. The Tigers were 2-1 in their first tournament of the season, the Belmont Invitational, as well as going 2-1 while hosting the Memphis Invitational.

With her 5.74 digs per set, Aleksandra Petronijevic ranks first in the American Athletic Conference and 7th in the nation. Ellen Mullins of the Univerisity of Tennessee leads the nation with 6.80. Veronica Zimmerman leads the conference in assists per set, as the redshirt sophomore has averaged 11.13 through 23 sets, giving her 256 on the year. Zimmerman currently ranks 32nd in the nation, with Molly Kreklow of Missouri sitting in first with 12.85.
