Memphis has not won three straight games since 2008 and three games to end a regular season since 2007. The last time the Tigers won three straight games to end a year came in 2005, which started with a 2422 win over Southern Miss. UM closed out the 2005 regular season with a 26-3 win over Marshall before beating Akron 38-31 at the Motor City Bowl. SENIOR SALUTE The University of Memphis will recognized 16 seniors prior to kickoff Saturday as the Tigers conclude the 2012 season. Honored prior to the game will be LB Chris Bertucci (Gulfport, Miss.), LB Akeem Davis (Laurel, Miss.), OL Jordan Devey (American Fork, Utah), DL Zach Gholson (Carlsbad, Calif.), PK Paulo Henriques (West Memphis, Ark.), LB Ricky Holloway (Somerville, Tenn.), DB Mitch Huelsing (Munford, Tenn.), LB Kenyata Johnson (Jackson, Miss.), DB Tarondal Phillips (Memphis, Tenn.), DL Jimmy Robinson (Memphis, Tenn.), WR Marcus Rucker (Memphis, Tenn.), Snapper Jeremy Singler (Memphis, Tenn.), DB Cannon Smith (Memphis, Tenn.), DB Robert Steeples (St. Louis, Mo.), DB DeAndre Thompson (Houston, Texas) and P/Holder Austin Weaver (Germantown, Tenn.). SOUTHERN MISS - MEMPHIS SERIES Saturday’s game is the 63rd overall meeting between the two schools. Southern Miss leads the all-time series 40-21-1, but the Tigers and Golden Eagles have split the last eight encounters. Southern Miss holds a narrow 18-15 series edge in games played in Memphis. The Golden Eagles won the last meeting played in the Bluff City, a 41-19 victory at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in 2010. The last Tigers win over Southern Miss in Memphis came in 2008, a 36-30 victory at the Liberty Bowl. Memphis and Southern Miss have played every season since 1952, with the exception of the 1980 campaign. Since the two programs began play in Conference USA, the Golden Eagles hold an 11-5 series lead.
