SERIES HISTORY -- TIGERS VS TULSA This is the 12th meeting between the Tigers and Tulsa. The Tigers lead the overall series, 6-5, but have lost two straight against the Golden Hurricane, including a 79-69 loss in Tulsa back at the beginning of January. Memphis is 4-1 all-time against Tulsa in games played in Memphis. Tulsa last won a game in the Bluff City in 2006-07. THE LAST TIME WE MET: TULSA Tulsa turned 14 Tiger turnovers in to 25 points and out-rebounded Memphis 33-30, in a 79-69 win. The Tigers led a majority of the first half thanks to a rebounding edge, but with Memphis up 23-16 with 7:04 to play in the first half, the Tigers committed turnovers on five straight trips and Tulsa used a pair of threes and two paint buckets to tie the game at 23 with 4:13 left. Tulsa then drained back-to-back threes and pushed their lead to 29-23 and led 32-31 at the half. Memphis sandwiched turnovers around a Tulsa triple to start the second half and spent the rest of the half trying to stay within range. Memphis pulled within one at 56-55 with 7:59 to go, but Tulsa kept the Tigers two possessions down and then iced the win at the free-throw line, 79-69. Asia Fuqua-Bey had a season-best 18 points on 9-for-11 shooting and Ariel Hearn added 17 points. The Tulsa game was the last one Memphis played without the services of starting point guard Breigha Wilder-Cochran, who was sitting out with a hand injury. Tulsa had five players in double-digits, led by a game-high 19 points from Kelsee Grovey. Ashley Hughes added 14 points and Teanna Reid and Kadan Brady each scored 13. Ashley Clark finished with 10 points as the Tulsa bench out-scored the Tiger bench 40-14. CREIGHTON NAMED TO AMERICAN HONOR ROLL Freshman post Cheyenne Creighton was named to the American Athletic Conference honor roll on Monday, becoming the fourth different Tiger to earn a spot on the league’s weekly honor roll. Creighton averaged 11 points and four rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for Memphis last week. After scoring a career-best 12 points in the win over UCF on Wednesday, she made her first career start at Tulane, finishing with 11 points and shooting 5-for-7 from the field. The Pickering, Ontario, native is the lone Memphis freshman to appear in all 26 games for the Tigers this season. DOUBLE-DOUBLE FOR WRIGHT OFF THE BENCH Junior forward Brianna Wright came off the bench in the loss at Tulane and posted her fifth double-double of the season. Wright finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds and tied a career high with four steals in 24 minutes of play. The four steals pushed the junior past the 100 steal mark for her entire collegiate career (including one year in junior college at Chipola Junior College). She has also moved within 154 points of scoring 1,000 total career collegiate points (again, including her totals from Chipola JC) heading in to the second Tulsa contest. Tiger Double-Doubles Brianna Wright vs. Missouri State, 11 pts, 16 reb (11/14/14) Courtney Powell vs. Samford, 11 pts, 11 reb (11/16/14) Mooriah Rowser vs. SIU, 13 pts, 10 reb (11/26/14) Brianna Wright vs. UALR, 14 pts, 16 reb (11/29/14) Asia Fuqua-Bey vs. MVSU, 12 pts, 12 reb (12/19/14)

Brianna Wright vs. Temple, 18 pts, 14 reb. (12/28/14) Brianna Wright vs. Cincinnati, 11 pts, 14 reb. (1/14/15) Brianna Wright at Tulane, 12 pts, 11 reb. (2/21/15) HEARN APPROACHING 15TH ALL-TIME AT MEMPHIS Ariel Hearn needs 11 more points to move in to the top 15 all-time at Memphis in scoring heading in to Tuesday’s game vs. Tulsa. She enters Tuesday’s game with 1,416 career points. She is eying Shannon Hamp’s (1999-2003) mark of 1,429 points that currently sits 15th on the career scoring list. If Hearn can get to the 1,500 career point mark this year, she will be in the top 13 at the school in scoring (1,510 is currently 12th). In her third season as a Tiger, Hearn is currently 240 points from moving to the career top 10 at Memphis. Former teammate Nicole Dickson is currently 10th in Memphis history with 1,656 career points. WILDER-COCHRAN RETURNS TO LINEUP After missing three games with an injury suffered in the loss at Temple, Breigha Wilder-Cochran returned to the lineup, and the starters group, in the Tulane game. After missing games against UConn, Houston and UCF, the sophomore guard finished with seven points, three assists and a steal in 24 minutes in her return to the court. It’s been a tough season for Wilder-Cochran. The returning point guard suffered an injury in the first practice of the fall and missed a lot of preseason work, then suffered a hand injury in the loss at USF on New Year’s Eve and missed the next three games. She’s missed seven games so far this season due to injury. IF THE TOURNAMENT START TODAY If the American Athletic Conference tournament started today, the Tigers would be the No. 7 seed. In order for Memphis to have any chance of improving their seeding, they need to win Tuesday night vs. Tulsa, otherwise, Tulsa is too many games ahead of Memphis for the Tigers to catch them. As the No. 7 seed, the Tigers would play No. 10 seed SMU if the tournament started today. CAREER NIGHT FOR CREIGHTON VS UCF Freshman forward Cheyenne Creighton got the Memphis bench powered up early in the win over UCF, Wednesday night. Creighton played a career-high 31 minutes, which was much-needed for the Tigers as junior forward Asianna Fuqua-Bey played just three minutes in the opening half due to foul trouble and finished with just 14 minutes in the game and four fouls. Creighton posted a career-best 12 points on 6-for13 shooting, adding four rebounds, one assist and a block. Behind her effort off the bench, the Tiger bench out-scored UCF, 27-4. WILLIAMS DOUBLES UP AGAINST UCF Sophomore guard Taylor Williams played a careerbest 38 minutes in the win over UCF. The Kansas City native finished with 11 points on 3-for-8 shooting, adding career bests in free throws made (5) and attempted (6). The sophomore just missed a doubledouble, finishing with 7 rebounds. She also added 2 blocks and 3 steals, both career bests, in the win over the Knights. TIGERS SECURE SWEEP With the win over UCF, the Tigers swept a third conference opponent. Memphis has swept the series with UCF for two straight seasons now. Memphis also swept the series with Cincinnati and Houston. Memphis has two opponents on its schedule it only faces once a season, and in a schedule glitch,

hasn’t faced either one yet -- Tulane and SMU. Saturday’s meeting with Tulane will be the only one this year with the Green Wave (barring conference tournament play) and Memphis closes its regular season slate against SMU on Mar. 2nd. Memphis will have to try to fight off being swept in its other two remaining season games. Memphis lost at Tulsa back in January, then lost to visiting UConn. Memphis hosts Tulsa, Tuesday, then travels to #1 UConn Saturday. CHANGE OF ROLE FOR HEARN In the early part of the conference schedule, the Tigers utilized Ariel Hearn mostly at the two-guard spot. The hand injury suffered by Breigha Wilder-Cochran in the first game with USF changed that. Memphis started freshman Amber Holmes in the next game (a win vs. East Carolina), but in the three games that Wilder-Cochran missed, Hearn ran the point for the Tigers. STRETCHING THE DEFENSE Junior guard Ariel Hearn has developed a reputation for not being afraid to shoot the three. She has landed 150 triples for her career and already ranks seventh on the Memphis career list in three point field goals made. She needs just two more to move to sixth all-time (where Kitty Allen, 1993-97) is currently sitting. But Hearn had a three-point field goal streak snapped in the win over UCF, going 0-for-3 from beyond the arc. That snapped a streak of seven straight games with a three-point field goal made for Hearn. But while Hearn failed to connect, she has had some company in the three-point field goals made column recently. Mooriah Rowser landed three in the win at Houston and Brea Elmore scored the Tigers’ lone triple in the win over UCF Wednesday night. Elmore was 3-for-3 from the field in the win, snapping a scoreless drought from the field for the freshman. In the previous five games, she was a combined 0-for-16. NO SENIOR DISCOUNTS Memphis does not have a senior on its roster, so it has fallen to the junior trio of Ariel Hearn, Asianna Fuqua-Bey and Mooriah Rowser to serve as the Tigers’ captains.

PAGE 4

LEARNING TO WIN CLOSE GAMES A young Tiger squad is still learning how to pull out close games. Of the Tigers’ 12 losses, six have been by single digits, including a four-point loss to visiting USF to start this current three-game slide. Those six Memphis single digit losses have added up to a combined 27 points. Memphis is 5-7 in single-digit games this season. HEARN GOES FOR 30 IN LOSS Ariel Hearn posted her first career 30-point game in the 57-53 loss to USF. That 30 points was the best single scoring game total for a player in the American Athletic Conference since league play began and was the first time a Memphis player has hit the 30-plus point mark since Nicole Dickson scored 34 in a win over Wright State back in January of 2013. Hearn’s 30-point effort earned her a spot on the American Athletic Conference Weekly honor roll for a third time this season. MEMPHIS FINISHES FALL SEMESTER IN A FLOURISH IN THE CLASSROOM The Tigers had a strong finish to the fall semester. Six players finished with a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the semester (Cheyenne Creighton, Asianna FuquaBey, Ariel Hearn, Amber Holmes, Mooriah Rowser, Brianna Wright) and freshman Amber Holmes posted the highest team GPA of the fall at 3.87. The Tigers’ fall team GPA was 3.087. UNIVERSITY OF MEMPHIS

TURNING O-BOARDS TO POINTS Memphis has been one of the better offensive rebounding teams in the American this season, but has not seen that translate to second chance points of late. Heading in to the Temple game, the Tigers are fourth in the American with 14.4 offensive rebounds per game in league play. In the last six games, Memphis has been outscored in second chance points six straight times. For the season, they are giving up eight points a game more than they have scored on second chance points. Against USF, the Tigers gave USF 15 second-chance points and scored just five of their own off seven offensive rebounds. USF finished with 16 offensive rebounds, 11 in the second half. ROAD WARRIORS Memphis was 2-2 on the road in the month of January, winning at UCF and Cincinnati. The Tigers are 1-1 so far on the road in February with two tough road trips left -- at Tulane (Saturday) and at UConn (next Saturday). BUILDING OFF TOUGH NON-CONFERENCE SLATE Memphis has a 20-win season and a post-season bid as a team goal this year. And the Tigers’ have been well-tested to date, having already faced eight teams in the top 100 in the latest NCAA RPI Report. ing line with a pair of three point field goals in the first half against Missouri State. The second triple pushed her past the 1,000 career point mark, making her the 23rd player in school history to score a grand or more. She added a pair of threes in the second half, which gave her the 100th triple of her three-year Tiger career. She is just the ninth player in school history to connect on 100 career threes. Getting to her 1,000th career point in her 64th career game means that Hearn was the fifth-fastest in Memphis history to get to the 1,000 career point mark. She tied the mark set by Tamika Whitmore, who went on to become the second Memphis women’s basketball player drafted in to the WNBA, earning WNBA All-Star honors while she played in Indiana.
