I=m sure that you are by now all aware of the mission of our incoming International President, Jean Behar which is AQuality, the key to the future@ This mission was also discussed at our recent Zone Meeting at Kingsburgh th on Sunday 6 August and Clubs were urged to build quality into all that they do whilst, at the same time enjoying their membership of this great organisation. I firmly believe that the Port Shepstone Lions Club is capable of achieving this goal. We have an infrastructure within our Club that is second to none and the spirit and comradery amongst members is improving by the day. Although Port Shepstone is a relatively large Club by comparison, we, as members, must learn not to rest on our laurels and

accept that we are bigger and better than other Clubs within our Zone. Indeed, we need to focus more on our commitments to our community and our fellow members. Our visibility within our community is vital for the positive image of our Club and organisation. We need o advertise Lions at every possible opportunity from the smallest, most insignificant fundraiser to the South Coast Show. It has taken years for the public to finally acknowledge the fact that the South Coast Show is a Lions project and this is mostly due to the strong public image of our Club mainly as a result of improved publicity and a new identifiable dress code. We must never lose sight of our fellow members and always make every effort to

contact those who are not regular attendants at our meetings. We also need to make every effort to attend Club fellowship functions in order to become better acquainted with our fellow members. True quality begins at Club level and we as club members can make all the difference in achieving this goal.

LION DAVE SPARG ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY August / September Dates to Remember: 

25 August - open Clubhouse Evening

14 September Directors Meeting

28 Septenber Club Meeting

After months of intense pain and suffering, Lion Dave Sparg, was finally operated th on on Tuesday 15 August. I have been keeping close tabs on the developments and am happy to report that Dave=s condition has improved dramatically and, according to his daughter Lynn, he is already up and about and eating!! The other

good news is that he is no longer suffering from the excruciating pain that has been with him for the past few months. I am sure that Lion Dave will be back at meetings before long and that we will all be able to, once again, enjoy fellowship with him. The success of this operation is mainly due to the efforts of Dr Fred

Babumba who, incidently, performed the operation at absolutely no charge. Further appreciation must also go to Lion (Dr) Hilton Horsley who has been responsible for all the arrangements and the Lions and their Ladies for all their support and kindness. We wish Lion Dave a speedy recovery!!
