BROOKLYN SOAP COMPANY TURNING REGULAR DUDES INTO DAPPER GENTLEMEN

Since 2012, Brooklyn Soap Company produces high-quality grooming products for men. They are based on herbal ingredients and help turning regular dudes into dapper gentlemen. The product range extends from shampoos to beardwash – all products are invented in the founder’s kitchen and filled in red-dot-awarded 250 ml bottles. Brooklyn Soap Company products only consist of vegan, high-quality and mild ingredients on a herbal basis - “zero bullshit“, like it’s said with a wink on the bottles. Pure, pleasant essences as mace or peppermint leave a manly unique sense while providing a revitalizing and cared skin feeling. Finally a natural, valuable and indeed a cool grooming line for men, which keep its promise. 4 | W W W. M E NM O M E NT S . C O M

PRODUCT RANGE While the bodywash, based on essential oils, can be used as facial care and leaves a daylong unique male scent on the skin, the shampoo strenghtens with aloe the demanding men hair – available for blonde as well as dark hair. The beardwash cleanses and revitalizes the texture of the beard while the essences are cooling and moisturizing the skin underneath. Extracts of coconut, peppermint, rosemary and myrtle ensure a cooling and moisturizing effect. For taming and caring of your favourite hair style, Brooklyn Soap Company offers a phenomenal pomade. Because the smell of sweat is not an indication of the masculinity of today’s gentlemen, a special deodorant free of aluminium is available. A difference that you will not only smell but also feel - a marvellous mixture of bergamot, cedar and cypress. ABOUT BROOKLYN SOAP COMPANY The founders team consists of Felix Ermer (24), Viktor Dik (25) and Jonas Hillebrecht (26). During a longer stay for several months in Brooklyn New York City, back in 2012, they discovered their appreciation for quality-oriented, handcraftet products at Brooklyns flea markets. Back in Germany, they missed a useful, high-quality and modern grooming line for men - the idea was born. They started to create their own recipes and the smell of Single Malt Whiskey was used for their first prototype. Brooklyn as inspiration gave the company its name. The online-shop went live in November 2013. By now, almost 100 stores throughout Europe WWW. M E NM O M E NT S . C O M | 5

Raf Simon announced his leaving the Dior House after three years of pure magic. The decision, according to the designer, is based on the desire of focus on his personal brand. The hight fashion house announced that their Spring 2016 and Fall 2016 collections will be designed by its in-house team. But Raf wasn’t the only one announcing his departure, Albert Elbaz left Lanvin after 14 years of desdication to the brand. And because there is no two without three, Alexandre Wang left Balenciaga after three years of pure perfection. Some rumors say that this decision was baseed on the lack of sucess of the creations of Wang for the brand and in the will of the designer to refocus on his personal brand. Which of this rumors is true, we don’t know, we only know we will miss Wang at Balenciaga. 2015 wasn’t only a year of departures. John Galliano made is return to Maison Margiela and left us wanting more and more after the return. WWW. M E NM O M E NT S . C O M | 7

H&M this past year had one of his most popular colaborations with a fashion house - Balmain. Oliver Rousting once again did what he does best and enchanted everybody with some magnificent dresses and jewlery. This collection got everybody crazy and sold out few minutes after the stores opened doors. Something that drive the fashion world crazy as well was the Ready-to-Wear Spring 2016 runway show of Ginvenchy that for the first time took place in New York City. Ricardo Tisci, Marina Abramovic and their team paid homage to the victims of the 9/11. Fashion icons like Rihanna, Kim Kardashian West and his husband Kanye where at the front row. Talking about the Kardashian clan and their year of 2015 and don’t talk about Caitlyn Jenner is almost a crime. If someone break the internet this past year and step into the fashion world with the right foot, that person was Cait. 8 | W W W. M E NM O M E NT S . C O M

Kanye West debut this past February his first collection - Yeeazy Season 1. This was one of the most talked shows of the fashion season, if not the most. His front row show had faces like Anna Wintour, Beyonce, Jay Z and the Kardashian clan. He also introduced Kylie Jenner as his model. Another thing the world couldn’t stop talk about and making fun of was Rihanna’s MET Gala gown. The yellow 55 pound gown, by a little known designer Guo Pei, got everybody making memes and trolling Rihanna for weeks. The theme of the gala was “China: Through the Looking Glass” . Still abou the MET gala, another celebrity that make the world talk - this time not for bad reasons - was Queen B. Her Givenchy transparent dress made the world stop. To complete the look her badass attitude turned all the flashes on her and her tremendous body curves. Thank you 2015 for this memories. Hello 2016. WWW. M E NM O M E NT S . C O M | 9

DONT’S & DO’S

HILL FITTING PANTS/JEANS Never wear pants/jeans that fit too short or too long, or too loose or too tight. When shopping for these kind of item, always get the right size. Neutral colors are recommended. SWEATPANTS Sweatpants can be really comfortable, they are hard to resist on those Sunday lazy days. But please, avoid them. Instead, go for a black slim fitting ones. Tip: Mix them with a blazer or a shirt in order to create a cool, effortless look. WHITE SOCKS + SANDALS White socks are a huge NOT. Not even to the gym, stay away from them! Sandals were made for the hot days and for that purpose only. Don’t wear them with socks, it looks bad. Really bad. STUPID QUOTE T-SHIRTS Unless you’re a teenager, stay away from those. Go for a more mature look with a basic grey or white t-shirt or collared shirt. Plus, they are really versatile so you can wear them over and over again with different layers. DENIM X LEATHER JACKETS Please, keep the distance from these kind of jackets. It’s either a denim or a leather jacket. Those kind of item look cheap and last season.

DONT’S & DO’S

LAYERING

BOMBER JACKET

Layering is a must. For exemple, layering a crazy pattern jacket over some minimal boring knit coat can create an edgy and really unique look. Try it!

This is a must for this season and not only. It can be classy and cool at the same time. If you don’t have any, choose a black one and play with layering it.

MONOCHROMATIC LOOK

BIKER JACKET

A monocromatic look can be an easy way to create an edgy look. Keep proportions in mind and go for it.

Perfect for almost every situation. From a night out to a more relaxed work place. This is a must have.

ACESSORIZE WELL

LESS IS MORE

Acessorizing is fulcral to create a finished look. Mix and play with them. Sometimes, you can even make them the center of attention. Go for a basic outfit and then invest on them. It will work.

Always keep this in mind. Everytime you feel like a clown because of the amount of stuff you have on, take it all off and start building it again until you think it’s balanced with the rest of the outfit.

I N TERVIEW | MODEL S

BONAMY GIOVANNI Age: 25 Measures: 1,80 Born in: Paris Instagram: @gioboyparis

What you expect and think about the fashion world? Someday, I expect to be a really good model, actually I am a hard-working guy like we call in the business but I want to be on TOP where every single people in the fashion industry knows my name even the high brand. But also, I expect to be famous as Gioboy my nickname since I was young, that’s actually why my Instagram is called gioboyparis. I really want to be a social , be able to share my work as a model but also my inspirations, my trips and my brand. Last June, I created my own cap brand. I’m happy to see people like and wear it and I’m willing to do more of it in the future. What I really think about the fashion world.. This is actually not my world, I mean I never expected to become a model, I had that dream to be a fireman like my dad or being part of a boys band ( just kidding ). I always said that I wanted do something good for the people but life made me become model and I love that, amazing experiences and I want to keep doing this for some years but I’m not very into cloths magazines, I honestly don’t care about which girls are top models and who’s done this last campaign .. not my thing, but obviously I try to stay informed because this is my job so I have to. Countries you would like to travel as a model? The countries where I would love to travel as a model.. I’ve already been to so many places.. But I wouldsay Captown , If anybody read this, I hope to have a job there soon. Your favorite designer? DSQUARED2. Your objective in your career in the fashion world? My objective for my career is to be one day on the top and soon as possible. Funny story lived in the backstage or photo

session? Funny… Hum I always have fun in my shootings but I don’t really have funny stories in mind. Though I do hope one day it will happen. If you were not a model you will be? I will be Fireman that’s for sure, why? Well, I did the test to become a fireman and they validated my profile but I had to wait 8 months before starting so my dad told me “okay son, that’s good but you will not stay at home for 8 moths doing nothing, take your resume and go to some supermarkets or whatever to find a job”. And that’s when Abercrombie and Fitch saw me in the street and asked me to work for them, so I did, only to tell my dad: « Hey dad I’ve got a job ». But I never expected than one day they would ask me to travel for them all over Europe, then after 2 years doing that I tried to become model and here I am today answering questions for an interview in the great Men Moment Magazine Negative things for being a model? The worst thing when you are model : you’re always travelling and you miss your family and your friends like crazy and honestly it’s impossible to have a serious relationship I mean for my part. Positive things for being a model? Traveling around the world for you job and get paid to travel, not that bad. You love? I LOVE MUSIC : Robbie williams my favorite artist since I was a little one. I think all my followers already know that haha. But I also love Dean Martin, Franck Sinatra.. I LOVE MOVIES : Old movies like : The Outsiders, Rusty James, The warriors, Rain man, cry baby Gilbert Grape, plein soleil. You hate? I hate snob french people and hate mean people. But what i really hate most is the captivity of dolphins and orca and abuse of animals.

PORSHE 911 TURBO & PORSHE 911 TURBO S

Scheduled to make their world debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, USA, in January 2016, the top models of the 911 model range – the 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S – now boast 20 hp (15 kW) more power, sharper design and even broader everyday usability. Available in both Coupe and Convertible versions, the twin-turbocharged, 3.8-litre flat-six engine in the 911 Turbo now has an output of 540 hp (397 kW). This power gain was achieved by modified inlet ports in the cylinder head, new injection nozzles and higher fuel pressure. The 911 Turbo S now develops 580 hp (427 kW) courtesy of new turbochargers with larger compressors. Porsche is still the only manufacturer to utilise turbochargers with variable turbine geometry in petrol engines. The engines now also have what is known as a ‘dynamic boost function’ to further raise engine responsiveness in dynamic operation. It maintains the charge pressure during load changes – i.e. when the accelerator pedal is released briefly. This is achieved by just interrupting the fuel injection, whereas the throttle valve remains open. As a result, the engine reacts with practically no delay to a subsequent press of the accelerator pedal. The

effects of this function are more pronounced in the Sport and Sport Plus modes than in Normal mode. Overall, the new high-performance sports cars attain breathtaking driving performance, while fuel consumption is reduced even further. The 911 Turbo S Coupé sprints to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds. Its top speed of 205 mph is eight mph higher than before. The 911 Turbo reaches the 62 mph mark in 3.0 seconds, and its top speed is 198 mph – three mph faster than the previous model. Nevertheless, the coupes only consume 31 mpg (9.1 l/100 km), and the convertibles 30.4 mpg (9.3 l/100 km). This represents a gain of approximately two miles per gallon for all versions. This has been delivered via further advances in electronic engine and transmission management with revised gear change mappings. A familiar option on the next generation 911 Carrera models, the new 911 Turbo and Turbo S feature as standard the new GT sport steering wheel – 360 mm in diameter and with a design adopted from the 918 Spyder. It features what is known as a ‘Mode Switch’, a rotary ring with stepped positions that is used to select one of the four modes Normal, Sport, Sport Plus or WWW.MENMOMENTS.COM WWW. Individual. The Individual setting lets the driver configure and store a very individual vehicle setup. Another new feature of the Sport Chrono Package is the Sport Response button at the centre of the mode switch. Inspired by motor sport, at the push of a button it pre-conditions the engine and transmission for optimum responsiveness. In this state, the vehicle can produce instantaneous acceleration for up to 20 seconds, such as during an overtaking manoeuvre. An indicator in the instrument cluster in the form of a running timer shows the driver the elapsed time. Sport Response functionality can be called up as often as desired, and from any of the driving modes. Porsche Stability Management (PSM) in the 911 Turbo models now has a new PSM Sport Mode. A brief press of the PSM button on the centre console puts the system in a very sporting configuration – which is independent of the prevailing driving programme selected. The separately switched PSM Sport mode alters the PSM intervention threshold much more than was the case in the Sport Plus mode of the previous model. The new mode makes it possible to approach performance limits even more closely – such as when on a race track. In this mode, the PSM warning lamp lights up, and a message in the instrument cluster indicates that the PSM system’s contribution towards driving stability is limited. However, PSM still remains active in background, even in the PSM Sport mode. A long press of the PSM button, though, completely deactivates PSM, as usual.
