I dedicate this book to my dad, William “Bill” Rosenberg. My dad was a dedicated father, mentor, golfer and businessman. He instilled in me the principles of fairness, honesty, and the appreciation of others. I miss you, Dad.

Growing up, I had aspirations to be a pro golfer and join “The Tour.” The problem was that medical school got in the way, and my dad locked up my clubs. I learned the game from my father, who was a businessman and golfer. Dad even won a semi-pro golf tournament at the Concord Hotel, in New York. I remember him going to West Virginia on many weekends when he played with Sammy Snead.

My first lesson was with Julius Boros. Julius was the “club pro” at that time at Westmoreland Country Club in Pittsburgh. Later I took lessons from Ed Furgol and Jim Ferree. I had to spend some time with Arnold Palmer (see photo below). I have played golf with Ray Floyd, Jimmy Powell, Larry Gilbert, Doug Tewell, Andy Magee, Bobby Nichols, Woody Austin, Rod and Rick Nuckolls, Mark Brooks, Bob Tway, Simon Hobday, and a few others. Over the years I have collected “golf sayings.” I can claim most of them...hope you enjoy them!

Golf is a series of events occurring within a short period of time, producing catastrophic or extraordinary results, depending solely on one stroke.

Golf is one of the few words you can shout out in a movie theater without consequence.

A perfectly hit ball is rarely influenced by the wind.

A perfect shot usually occurs before two bad ones.

Golf can cure many ills and start twice as many.

If you can’t be comfortable on a golf course, give up the game.

Golf is mainly played between one’s ears.

Eighteen holes are nothing more than obstacles to sanity.

Once the ball is struck, it’s then up to wind, gravity, earth rotation and grain ..... Oh, and maybe few good swear words.

On windy days I just play the downwind holes.
