Brief History of Men’s Underwear Well, some might say that it all started with Adam and Eve disobeying God and landing them into problems. This in turn led them to covering their private parts with leaves put together. However, if we look at the scientific approach, you’d find that the earliest civilization started wearing leaves and when on to the loincloth (which is also recorded in Wikipedia). I would not get into the trouble as well as won’t confuse you more and put forward the brief history of men’s underwear. 1. Fig leaves: It is believed that the ancestors started wearing—uh! No, they basically did not wear it, but covered their male anatomy with fig leaves put together. This was very comfortable and durable than the cotton or any other fabric. I sometimes wonder that the herbivores would have run towards them, looking for food. Wouldn’t they? 2. Loincloth: It was back around 3000 B.C. or 7000 years ago that men switched to loincloth for their fashion underwear. In that era (late in 1353 B.C.), King Tut went was buried with 145 loincloths. Leather loincloth was considered as the strongest and durable of all the varieties available. 3. The Braie: Eventually when time passed, Braie replaced the loincloth in 1300 B.C. The garment as of trouser shaped, loose fit with a tied waist for a better grip and reached the knee length or mid-thighs. Made out of linen, these were quite comfortable. 4. The Codpiece: First of its kind, the Codpiece was the first men’s enhancing underwear worn by men. Introduced in the 16th Century, the garment came was designed with drawstrings (not on the waistband, but on the pouch) or snap buttons in order to provide easy access for emergencies.
