r o f p u e n i l Full V I y k c o R s ’ A NEC r e y o r t s e D Odin the s r a W r a t S ” Bandai 6 figures
Earlier this week Star Wars Toy News on Facebook shared this image of a retail display in Japan containing blister packed 6 inch Star Wars figures from Bandai. These are reportedly to be 5POA and are possibly based off the Bandai kit sculpts?
Diamond Select Toys have revealed their next Select Marvel figure via ComicBook.com The figure, Odin the Destroyer, will stand an impressive 9 inches tall and will come with alternative heads. Also included are the Odinsword. The figure will retail at $24.99 / £19.99 and will be available in late 2016.
Intrigued by the image we did a little bit of research to try and understand more. We turned up that these are what Bandai are calling the Movie Vinyl Collection, and these are already listed for order on Amazon Japan and also as pre-order on Big Bad Toy Store under imports. The Japanese RRP is 1400Yen, so about £9.50, and BBTS have them at $14.99.
Marvel Select Odin the Destroyer Action Figure The June releases see's four figures, all numbered like the Hasbro Black Series #01 Kylo Ren, #02 First Order Storm Trooper, #03 Captain Phasma, #04 BB8 There are also at least two more figures coming in July 2016 - #05 will be R2-D2 and #06 will be Chewbacca. No images exist for these yet. The biggest plus for this range is the packaging, which has a very nostalgic feel to it. It would however be unlikely to see these for sale directly in the US or UK due to the Hasbro licence already in place. If these tickle your fancy then importing via someone like BBTS or ordering direct from Japan will be your best bet.
A Diamond Select Toys Release! Prepare to be destroyed! The next 7-inchscale Marvel Select action figure is the Destroyer, the massive Asgardian automaton that regularly menaces the Mighty Thor! Measuring approximately 9 inches tall with 16 points of articulation, this spiked powerhouse comes with the powerful Odinsword, as well as an interchangeable head, revealing the one-eyed face of the All-Father, Odin, from the times he has worn the armor in battle! Whether you choose to display him as the Destroyer or as Odin, he’s more than a match for your Marvel Select Thor, or Hulk, or even Juggernaut! Packaged in the display-ready Select packaging, with spine artwork for shelf reference. Sculpted by Jean St. Jean!
Comicave Studios have announced that their SDCC 2016 exclusive will be this Omni class 1/12 Mk42 Iron-Man, complete with Sofa accessory. "Omni Class 1/12 Scale Iron Man Mark 42 with Exclusive Leather Sofa set is coming to you first at San Diego Comic Con 2016 this July." Comicave Studios are planning a 1/8 range of Marvel Cinematic Universe figures, unveiling the prototypes at the Captain America Civil War premiere. The line up appears to include all 11 key characters from Civil War, and would arguably make it the most comprehensive MCU lineup from any company - particularly when we consider the inclusion of Vision, Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch. At 1:8 scale these will be around 9 inches tall. No more details have been released but the lack of any articulation on the images below, and them being badged as figurine rather than figure indicates these are probably going to be a static statue - a similar approach to Kotobukiya.
Classic Superman can be pre-ordered now in the US for $75 and ships in January 2017. We would expect UK pre-orders to go up via the usual channels in the next few weeks and expect UK price to be around the £65 mark.
With Mezco holding the DC licence and having already released Batman, it was almost inevitable that they would be adding Superman to their One:12 Collective line up. The Man of Steel is presented in his Classic look, and will come with alternative head and hands. He will also come with ricochet bullet effects and poseable chains so you can really go to town on showing off Superman's powers. There will also be other accessories like a Kryptonite meteor, and Mezco have also designed an action base to support flying poses and special clips to attach to the cape when you want to pose the cape to a more dynamic look.
The figure will come with swap out hands, as well as repulsor blast effects. No price or other details as yet, but the Mk43 retails at $115 (£80) so I would estimate around the $150 mark upwards for SDCC. For those unsure of the Omni class, then this is the detail from the Comicave Studio website.
“The sole survivor of his dying home planet Krypton, Superman was raised by his adoptive parents Martha and Jonathan Kent as their son Clark on a modest farm in Kansas. Having developed powers far beyond those of mortal men and imbued with a strong moral compass, Clark takes up the fight for truth and justice as Superman. Although he is based in the big city of Metropolis, Superman is a global hero — righting wrongs worldwide. He is arguably the greatest and most powerful hero in the DC Universe. Our One:12 Collective Superman figure is digitally modeled to craft a hyper-realistic "real world" look. This fully poseable figure is assembled on a signature One:12 body with over 32 points of articulation. Additionally, this figure features meticulously-crafted cloth costuming with sculpted details to create an amazing collectible.”
As we alluded to recently following some comments by NECA, it has now been made absolutely clear that the upcoming NECA Quarter Scale Donatello, or indeed any of their planned 1:4 scale Turtles, will not be available to UK customers.
It seems the licence granted to produce these is restricted to sales in the United States only. Sad news, but as we always say "collectors will find a way"
NECA will be bringing together their AvP Alien and Predator figures this Autumn in this 2-pack, just announced on the NECA Twitter feed. "Rivalry Reborn 2 Pack coming this Fall #prednesday #AvP #alien Grid vs Celtic Battle Damaged, comes w net & more!" As you can see from the image the Grid Alien will be tweaked with the severed tail piece complete with what looks like green acid blood. The Celtic Predator will have added battle damage. UK collectors should expect to pay around ÂŁ40 for this.
NECA's Randy Falk is in a league of his own when it comes to engaging with his customers. In terms of the Alien licence, Randy had talked about a Sentry Gun being a possibility at some point - perhaps by going down a similar route to the Aliens Creature Pack that is shipping next month. This tweet seems to indicate that NECA have now found an avenue to give fans this Sentry Gun, and we look forward to seeing the accessory itself and also how NECA will bring it to market.
We speculated a few weeks back that a Jason Hockey Mask posted by NECA on Friday 13th may actually be linked to a Clark Griswold figure from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. It seems we were right, and NECA have revealed this 8 inch retro scale Clark Griswold figure "Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This Fall!!" Clark will be hitting stores this Autumn, and UK collectors would expect to be paying around ÂŁ25 for the figure. It is unclear if the hockey mask will be included.
NECA's second wave of the revamped Rocky figures will, as we know, be based on Rocky IV. The full line up has now been revealed to include...
We saw some prototype images of Funko's Re: Action Dark Crystal line a couple of weeks back (CLICK HERE).
Apollo Creed with removable hat and coat and alternative serious head.
It seems the range is further along than those images indicated, and the first Dark Crystal product will be an SDCC exclusive - the Landstrider Set.
Ivan Drago in Yellow shorts. This is the outfit Drago wore fighting Apollo Creed. Ivan Drago in Red shorts, with bloodied head, as seen in his fight with Rocky. Rocky with two head options and USA flag.
These images have been circulated overnight on eBay. The Spider-Man wave has not officially announced by Hasbro, but seemingly in hand in hand with at least one individual in Hong Kong who has listed the full wave on eBay.
The set comes in boxed packaging, containing both the Landstrider and Jen the Gelfling, who will come armed with a catapult. No more details have been released at this stage, and we would hope that neither figure is totally locked in as an exclusive or there will be a large hole in what is looking like a promising range of figures, even at 3.75" scale.
Some fans were quick to point out the difference between Rocky's striped shorts, and those on Apollo - but this is actually film accurate if you look at stills. Great attention to detail.
The 6 figure wave gives us a new Spider-Man, with unmasked Peter Parker head and what appears to be a brand new sculpt and not a reuse of the most recent "Pizza" Spider-Man.
Apollo is a new sculpt, while Drago is a re-release of the older figure with updated paint apps. Rocky is a combination of earlier Rocky figures and the flag as used on the video game version.
There is a Miles Morales Spider-Man, also unmasked, as well as a Goblin, Electro, Silk and Ashley Barton. Each figure contains a build-afigure piece allowing you to construct Space Venom. These look pretty finished and ready for distribution to me, but of course we are still waiting on the last Captain America Civil War wave to hit the UK.
NECA have shared this behind the scenes image of a photo shoot of their upcoming Ultimate Ash figure from The Evil Dead 2. "Ultimate Evil Dead 2 Ash photo shoot is happening now. Swallow your soul #tbt #ash #evildead" - Randy Falk, NECA Twitter Feed This iconic Ash will be released on Halloween and considering this is an Ultimate release we would assume variant head options as well as a wealth of accessories - including obviously the rifle he is sporting in this image.
I am really excited for McFarlane's return to their 7 inch roots, and the figures they are showing off currently are nothing short of stunning, although articulation will be another matter. McFarlane, Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have used this week's EA Play event to confirm the details of their Titanfall 2 licence, which will be released under their brand new Color Top range of figures. These first Titanfall 2 figures are due in the Autumn and looking at the UK pre-order price of other Color Top figures, the 7" Jack Cooper should come in or under £20.
7-inch Pilot Jack Cooper Color Tops figure: ● Hero and main character of the highly anticipated Titanfall 2 ● Comes with the deadly accurate CAR submachine gun ● Likeness of Pilot Jack Cooper captured directly from in-game 3D models for unparalleled McFarlane detail ● Includes code for McFarlane exclusive unlockable in-game content ● *Be on the lookout for additional “Pilot” Color Tops figures coming soon! 10-inch BT-7274 figure: ● Spectacular likeness of BT-7274 Titan captured directly from in-game 3D models ● Figure comes with fully posable 3″ Jack Cooper figure ● Articulated BT-7274 Titan with operational opening and closing cockpit to fit 3″ Jack Cooper figure ● Includes X016-A2 Titan weapon ● Exclusive Todd McFarlane designed Titan Nose-Art included as Downloadable Titanfall 2 In-Game Content
t this weekend’s EA PLAY event, Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment announced their partnership with McFarlane Toys to produce figures from their smash hit Titanfall video game series. In the 2014 smash-hit Titanfall, players wage war against their rival factions as both agile pilots and armored 20foot mechs known as Titans. Titanfall 2 is among the most hotly-anticipated video game sequels in history, featuring revolutionary Multiplayer that offers brand new Titans, expanded Pilot abilities and deeper customization to elevate the fast paced and exciting gameplay fans expect from the series. Beginning in September, McFarlane Toys’ waves of Titanfall 2 figures will not only give fans a chance to collect their favorite characters from the game, but each figure will also enable them to unlock downloadable ingame content, like an EXCLUSIVE Todd McFarlane designed Titan nose-art which players can use to help customize their own personal Titan while playing online (code comes included with 10″ BT-7274 figure).
Mattel's DC Multiverse figures for Suicide Squad are showing up on eBay with quite a few new images of the packaged figures. The 6 inch wave is made up of 6 figures - The Joker, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Boomerang, Katana and Batman. Each figure is packed with a build-a-figure piece to allow you to build Killer Croc.
Deadpool has never been so popular, and 2016 will probably go down as the Year of Pool with figures coming from Hasbro, NECA, Hot Toys... and now in Kaiyoda's Revoltech 1/12 range. The Revoltech Deadpool boasts some really cool features, none more so than the swap out eyes to convey various emotions. There are also four sets of hands, two katana swords and two hand guns. The accompanying poster, albeit in Japanese, is interesting in that Deadpool is #001 and therefore this could be seen as a brand new Revoltech collection, outside of any of their other numbered figure series.
The release date, and price are unknown - but looking at the usual price of a Revoltech figure you would expect to be paying around the $50 mark, £40 in the UK due to import costs. The original source (www.figsoku.net) also quotes that Spider-Man and Venom are in the works for this 1/12 series. This is interesting as most of these Japanese companies (Figuarts, Figma etc) tend to follow suit with each other and this move by Revoltech to Deadpool and SpiderMan characters is a big split from the current trend of Avengers movie figures.
