i, my name is Shoshannah Faber. I have owned horses for 20 years but I did not pursue horses as much as I wanted to when I was younger. I was, however, on the Bakersfield College equestrian team and won some ribbons competing with them. I received my AA in animal science and then joined the United States Army as a firefighter. I was in the Army six years and completed two tours to Iraq; then, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and was medically retired from the Army. I spent several years focusing on my health and my horses. I partnered with my 20-year-old beautiful bay Arabian mare, Shally, who helped me build my leg strength back up and my confidence. When I started feeling competent again, I went to work for a reined cowhorse trainer. I showed dressage and trail classes and collected horses!
Through working for the cowhorse trainer I started my own business, Three Nail Ranch. I now have eight horses, including a 5-year-old pony named War Diamond (aka Sarge). I was introduced to M.A.R.E. and became a PATH Int’l certified riding instructor. I am very blessed to be teaching at M.A.R.E. today. I have learned so much from the riders — their perseverance humbles me. I know how hard it was for me and I am glad to be able to give back because so many people helped me through my struggles and now I can help others. Sarge is a sorrel pony that came to me when he was 2 years old. He has been such a blessing to Three Nail Ranch and to M.A.R.E. Sarge proved to be a stable and willing mount during CALNET, as our team won several ribbons while riding him. Since CALNET, Sarge has started a new chapter in his life — and is now making the M.A.R.E barn his home.
