Parker Morris, 12, and his Ride-a-Thon team check on the other riders as they compete in a recent strongman challenge.
Youth overcomes disability to become ‘rider of the year’ COURTESY OF M.A.R.E arker Morris is 12 years old and has been riding at M.A.R.E. since he was 5. When first coming to M.A.R.E., one of Parker’s long-term goals was to walk without using a walker. He has successfully reached that goal and beyond! Parker now uses arm crutches and can walk up the stairs to the mounting platform — just like the other students in his class — instead of using the ramp. At every lesson, Parker works
P
really hard toward his progress goals. His determination to push himself each time is what has helped him achieve so much. Along with a great attitude of sportsmanship with a completive edge, and a fun imagination, Parker motivates the other riders in his class. The young rider is known for his encouragement to others and respect for the M.A.R.E. team, including the horses. After working with Parker, you will never leave without a smile on your face and having had a good conversation.
