Electric conversion kit on show at BoatLife
8 Lightening Craft has developed an electric conversion kit
Lightening Craft has taken a step further within the green tech scene and developed a ready-toinstall electric propulsion conversion kit which will be on show at SBS BoatLife.
The kit provides a green alternative to standard marine engines with no compatibility issues.
The kit is bolt-in, readyto-install system and was developed while producing the first prototype Lightning Craft.
Ongoing testing has proved the performance and reliability of the kit with compatibility issues ironed out by developing Lightening Craft’s own throttle and finding perfectly matched charger and battery solutions.
The integrated battery monitor shows owners how much range and time is left.
With each vessel being different, Lightening Craft does not include a one-sizefits-all battery, charger, and cable package in its kit.
Instead, the company can recommend, supply, and install all the necessary components to ensure the craft receives a custom conversion, with each project adapted according to requirements.
Lightening Craft was founded by Josh Masters who trained as a marine diesel engineer and later began to work on a new type of propulsion.
The company manufactures a range of direct drives, belt drives and canal drives.
Honda Marine launched its new ‘Sporty White’ earlier in 2023, a new range inspired by the Honda Motor Racing colours.

The new colour will be used on four of Honda’s outboard engines, the BF250, 225, 200, and 150.
The engines use the same technology as that used by Honda motor racing including iST technology (Intelligent Shift and Throttle) providing owners with precise electronic engine response to control multiple engines with a single lever. The BF150 also has the option of mechanical, a conventional analogue control.
The Sporty White engines offer VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control), BLAST (Boosted Low Speed Torque) System, and PGM-FI electronic fuel injection technology enabling rapid acceleration and incomparable performance.
They are paired with Honda’s ECOmo system for
