Inside the current issue of MAH magazine, we take a closer look at the how our four-legged friends are doing throughout Merced County with stories and art exhibits that look at the interactions between humans, their environments, and the animals that they share the area with. From the upcoming LANDMARK exhibit at the Merced Arts Center that uses contemporary photography to look at conservation efforts in the Yosemite National Park, to the New Beginnings for Merced County Animals organization that has made tremendous strides in providing safe sanctuary and lifelines for pets a bit closer to home, it seems that the environment and the many species that depend on it is on the forefront of more than just our minds.. Throughout the downtown Merced Art Hop celebration, we challenged local artists to dissect the issue themselves and show us what animal awareness means to them and invited young residents to participate in activities including clay animal sculpting and bird feeder building.
