Over the past two years, the Merchiston Pipe Band has doubled in size.

With pupil engagement at an all time high, in April 2024, the Pipe Band flew to New York to perform at Tartan Week
British Championships
This was followed in summer with Merchiston hitting the prize list with a 4th place finish at the British Championships - the highest placing the School has ever achieved

The increase in participation and activities see ’ s the Pipe Band fundraising towards more uniforms and instruments The Merchiston Pipe Band are set to join the world-famous Red Hot Chilli Pipers as part of their Scottish Tour, having the honour of taking the stage on December 30 at the Alhambra Theatre for the matinee show performance of the last Scottish tour date of 2024. Full focus is currently on practice and fundraising so the Pipe Band are looking and sounding their best ahead of this fantastic opportunity for our young pipers and drummers – one they will certainly not forget!
