Gearing Up for more Growth in Knowledge Mercy Mission Malaysia had just closed its 2013 calendar by hosting one of the much-anticipated Islamic conferences, Twins of Faith. Alhamdulilah, we hope all the participations from different walks of life, have benefited from it. Looking back at 2013, Mercy Mission Malaysia was at the forefront of a range of exciting events that have left positive impacts on the lives of countless individuals. We believe this is the perfect foundation to continue the work we do to ensure 2014 brings us all greater benefit and promise. As we welcome the year of 2014, I am deeply honored to announce that Mercy Mission has achieved key milestones in the recent years. Armed with our strategic plans for the future, Mercy Mission Malaysia will be looking to make history in the years to come. We have launched a line-up of continuous programs such as Clothes4Dawah and New Muslim Care. We are also looking forward to kick-off our series of event like Play & Pray across the nation as an effort to enhance the awareness level mainly in Islamic knowledge amongst the youth. Recently held in bustling cities like Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, these events were a great success and helped us reach out to the Muslim youth. And I believe, In sha Allah our presence in the community will indirectly bring changes to the community as a whole. We are confident our audiences will appreciate the lengths we are going to in bringing greater variety and innovation in our product-related services. Besides that, we have also been busy fulfilling our corporate social responsibility by reaching out to the less fortunate community. We first launched our Charity Right project in Ramadan 2012 and up to December 2013, alhamdulilah we have been contributing to various orphanages by feeding 247, 223 meals to the poor. We also spent our time with the orphans at the Charity Right Cup Futsal, a meaningful social sporting event that our team have enthusiastically given up their time for. We hope you enjoy this inaugural issue of The Ansaari Times and look forward to many more power-packed issues in the future. Untill the next issue, I wish you all the very best in whatever you do and thank you for helping take Mercy Mission Malaysia to where it is today. Best regards, SAJID HUSSAIN National Manager Mercy Mission Malaysia mercymission.my

Corporate Social Responsibility (Creating Footsteps) Mercy Mission contributes to community More than to earn the eternal pleasure of Allah by striving with excellence to pursue the vision of the final messenger, Mercy Mission is also a strong supporter of social responsibility initiatives that benefit the less fortunate in their community
K
icked-off in Ramadan 2012, until December 2013, Charity Right Malaysia had distributed 247,223 meals to the poor. During Ramadan in 2012, Charity Right first distributed grocery goods and 8000 meals to the needy refugees and blind families within Kuala Lumpur. To date, we have distributed 96,440 meals monthly in Malaysia at RM 0.46 a meal. This is important because we seek to always increase the value of donation. In additional we still collect and distribute surplus food but at the same time we have to rely on cooked food and provision because supply of surplus food is unreliable. What make us different from other charitable bodies is that, we are committed in helping the needy by rescuing surplus food, helping to solve two separate problems at the same time – stop food waste and feed the poor. According to statistics reports, Malaysians waste 930 tons of food everyday while there are still millions hungry households. In 2008 UNICEF reported that, poor nutrition plays a role in at least half of the 7.6 million deaths of children each year. Hence, a long – term goal were set to ensure that we sustain our noble effort and always be the organization that helps to feed the hunger. •
We intend to extend the feeding program worldwide as there are hungry people everywhere in the world.
•
We are open for collaboration with other NGOs to complement each other in helping the needy. Providing food is only a short-term remedy to help the poorest, therefore empowerment programs with skill training, social enterprise and education for the grassroots and so on, are also planned.
In the 2014 we plan to establish a Food Bank so that Charity Right can serve more people. Along with that we would need food donation in order for us to reach out to the needy, and some financial contribution to keep the project on-going.
