GOLDEN YEARBOOK CLASS OF 1970

CL ASS O F 1 970

Celebrating 50 Years

Greetings Class of 1970! We hope you and your families are staying healthy. Although we were not able to celebrate your 50th class reunion in person this year, we are happy to share this wonderful memento — the Class of 1970 50th Reunion Golden Yearbook. The yearbook contains photographs and updates from you and your classmates, and offers a wonderful way to reminisce and reconnect with fellow members of the Class of 1970. Within these pages, you will find pictures from your time on campus, current photos of your classmates and updates on life since graduation. While the campus has changed, landmarks like the McQuade Library — built during your time as a student — or the Collegiate Church of Christ the Teacher, are still focal points of our beautiful campus. What remains the same since you were a student is the strong sense of purpose and community. As you read through this commemorative yearbook we hope you will take the time to remember those cherished moments on campus, rekindle friendships with classmates and reconnect with your alma mater. We celebrate you and welcome you as the newest members of our Golden Graduate Society. All the best, The Merrimack College Alumni Relations Team

In preparing this yearbook, every effort was made to share accurate information. We sincerely apologize for any errors or omissions.

I taught in the Wakefield, Massachusetts school system for 39 years, retiring in 2009. Of note, all five of my siblings are also Merrimack graduates.

LINDA ZEMKE Spouse: Ed Gallick Email: zemkel@aol.com Address: 2118 Great Falls St, Falls Church, VA 22043 After graduation, I worked in various jobs in Information Technology, finally landing my dream job with Mobil Corporation in Virginia where I worked for 20 years, retiring as a senior manager in 2000 shortly after the merger with Exxon. I have lived in Massachusetts, Kansas, New York City and Virginia. I married, divorced, remarried and have remained happily married to the love of my life for the past 44 years. We have one wonderful son, an amazing daughter-in-law and a sweet grand-daughter. I am a cancer survivor, an avid golfer, a quilter, a reader, a knitter and a proud Merrimack supporter.

I taught high school English in Massachusetts, Maryland, New Mexico, Texas and Switzerland. After earning a master’s degree in Critical and Creative Thinking, I began to teach a course in critical thinking in the International Baccalaureate Program. I taught Theory of Knowledge for many years and gave workshops for new and experienced teachers in the US and Canada. I became an examiner for the IB in the mid-90’s and am now Principal Examiner for TOK. I love to travel, and my job takes me to Cardiff three times a year. I spend time reading, hiking, biking, painting and enjoying life with friends and family. I look forward to seeing everyone at our post-pandemic reunion.

Prayer for the Deceased Members of the Class of 1970 Loving and gracious God, we offer you praise and thanks for all of our classmates, friends, and companions from our years at Merrimack College. Through all of them, you have enriched us laughter and support, wisdom and strength, love and help. As we remember all that we have been for one another as the Class of 1970, we especially call to mind those who are no longer with us in this world but who continue to be part of our hearts, lives, and community. May they all be at peace with You as they enjoy the blessings of eternity and may they help us who remain on earth to experience even now that same peace. Comfort us as we experience the sadness of missing them from our midst. May the sadness we feel remind us of the love we shared with them that will never end. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
