Abstraction allows man to see with his mind what he cannot see physically with his eyes.

ROSE MASTERPOL
Rose Masterpol has worked for three decades as a contemporary abstract painter. She is influenced by a wide range of interests from poetry and music, to her career as a graphic designer. Masterpol’s work is ever-evolving due to her intuitive approach to painting—her abstractions stream from De Stijl to Fauvism to expressionism to the pure abstract realm. No matter the style, her large-scale works are always expressive, bold, and balanced.

MAURA SEGAL
Maura Segal’s inspiration is drawn from modern architecture and minimalism. In her work, Segal juxtapose layers of paper with acrylic paint and a layer of thinly hand-cut paper strips, insinuating the volume of three-dimensional sculptures. She explores the contrast between negative and positive, the counterpoint between lines and shapes, and the coexistence of two and three-dimensional planes.

WENDY WESTLAKE
Wendy Westlake, based in Southeastern
Minnesota, plays with color and form to create rhythmic works on canvas. While she now works in acrylic, Westlake allows her background in watercolor to shine – with thinned paint, she layers transparent shapes that overlap to create beautiful tonal variations. Contrasting these translucent forms with areas of opaque color and white space, Westlake finds a delicate harmony of energy and serenity.

HYUNMEE LEE
Hyunmee Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea, where she grew up practicing Western Modern art with experience in Eastern painting and calligraphy. Her art practice crosses three continents over two decades. Lee’s creative process is guided by contrast, the imbalance of shapes and lines, and the exploration of automatic, meditative and calligraphic gesture. Her canvas is a place “where everything becomes nothing…It is a place to feel both emptiness and fullness.”
